Horror Movie Quotes by Jason Earls, author of Cocoon of Terror and How to Become a Guitar Player from Hell http://becomeguitaristfromhell.blogspot.com/ http://www.youtube.com/user/zevi35711 People love to be scared; and the safest way to experience the thrills and chills being frightened provides is to watch horror movies. Although some horror films are looked down upon for having incompetent acting, or low budgets, or rehashed plots, or monsters that look a little too fake (zippers running up the backs of the costumes being too obvious) other horror movies have become legitimate classics and respected as masterpieces that transcend the genre. Below are 31 quotes taken from a number of horror favorites. As you read them, imagine the thousands of people who screamed or squirmed in their seats upon hearing them for the first time. “The film which you are about to see is an account of the tragedy which befell a group of five youths, in particular Sally Hardesty and her invalid brother, Franklin. It is all the more tragic in that they were young. But, had they lived very, very long lives, they could not have expected nor would they have wished to see as much of the mad and macabre as they were to see that day. For them an idyllic summer afternoon drive became a nightmare. The events of that day were to lead to the discovery of one of the most bizarre crimes in the annals of American history, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.” --Narrator, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre “A boy’s best friend is his mother.” --Norman Bates, Psycho “I met him fifteen years ago. I was told there was nothing left. No reason, no conscience, no understanding; even the most rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong. I met this six-year-old child, with this blind, pale, emotionless face and, the blackest eyes... the Devil’s eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up for I realized what was living behind that boy’s eyes was purely and simply... evil.” –Dr. Sam Loomis, Halloween “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.” –Jaws [Commercial break: Be sure to check out my novel Cocoon of Terror on Amazon.com; if you like these horror quotes, you will love that book. I guarantee it.] “Newscaster: It has been established that persons who have recently died have been returning to life and committing acts of murder. A widespread investigation of funeral homes, morgues, and hospitals has concluded that the unburied dead have been returning to life and seeking human victims. It’s hard for us here to be reporting this to you, but it does seem to be a fact.” --Night of the Living Dead “Whatever you do, don’t fall asleep.” --A Nightmare On Elm Street “Dr. Klein: There is one outside chance for a cure. I think of it as shock treatment – as I said, it’s a very outside chance... Have you ever heard of exorcism? Well, it’s a stylized ritual in which the rabbi or the priest try to drive out the so-called invading spirit. It’s been pretty much discarded these days except by the Catholics who keep it in the closet as a sort of an embarrassment, but uh, it has worked. In fact, although not for the reasons they think, of course. It’s purely a force of suggestion. The victim’s belief in possession is what helped cause it, so in that same way, a belief in the power of exorcism can make it disappear. Chris MacNeil: You’re telling me that I should take my daughter to a witch doctor? Is that it?” --The Exorcist “I can remember when I was a little boy. My grandmother and I could hold conversations entirely without ever opening our mouths. She called it ‘shining.’ And for a long time, I thought it was just the two of us that had the shine to us. Just like you probably thought you was the only one. But there are other folks, though mostly they don’t know it, or don’t believe it. How long have you been able to do it?... Why don’t you want to talk about it?” –Dick Hallorann, The Shining “Henry: Yeah. I killed my mama. One night. It was my 14th birthday. She was drunk, and we had an argument. She hit me with a whiskey bottle. I shot her. I shot her dead. Becky: I thought you said you stabbed her. Henry: Oh yeah, that’s right, I stabbed her.” –Henry: Portrait of A Serial Killer “A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.” --Dr. Hannibal Lecter, The Silence of the Lambs “Pamela Voorhees: You know a boy drowned the year before those two others were killed? The counsellors weren’t paying any attention...They were making love while that poor boy drowned. His name was Jason.” --Friday the 13th “Regan: What an excellent day for an exorcism. Karras: You would like that? Regan: Intensely. Karras: But wouldn’t that drive you out of Regan? Regan: It would bring us together. Karras: You and Regan? Regan: You and us.” –The Exorcist [Brief Commercial Break #2: Check out my guitar book, How to Become a Guitar Player from Hell on Amazon.com; if you know anyone who is a guitarist, they will definitely learn a lot from studying this book. Here is the description: Have you ever wanted to learn how to play the electric guitar? Have you ever wondered about arpeggios, modes, exotic scales, chords - (both simple and sophisticated), harmonics - (natural, artificial, plucked, tapped, and more?), how about “outside” playing or never-before published methods such as the “wah-wham” method or the “lizard down the throat” technique? Maybe you would simply like to have some tips for beginners. Whatever the case, the great instructional book, How to Become a Guitar Player from Hell, covers nearly every guitar method used by modern day guitar virtuosos and explains them in simple terms anyone can understand; with extensive musical examples provided in tablature form. E-BOOK DOWNLOADS ONLY 5 DOLLARS - simply Google the title. From Jason Earls, author of Cocoon of Terror and Red Zen comes the excellent instructional book, How to Become a Guitar Player from Hell, now available at all online book stores. Now back to the Horror Quotes.] “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy (typed).” --Jack Torrance, The Shining “Sometimes that shark looks right at ya. Right into your eyes. And the thing about a shark is he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll’s eyes. When he comes at ya, he doesn't even seem to be livin’... ‘til he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin’. The ocean turns red, and despite all your poundin’ and your hollerin’ those sharks come in and... they rip you to pieces.” --Jaws “California, tell your people to stay away. Stay away now, don’t – don’t come in here. Whatever you hear, stay away! John Doe has the upper hand!” --William Somerset, Se7en, (Upon discovering Det. Mill’s wife’s head inside the package) “Van Helsing: She lives beyond the grace of God. She is ‘vampyr,’ ‘nosferatu.’ These creatures do not die like the bee after a first sting, but instead grow strong once infected by another nosferatu. My friends, we fight not one beast, but legions living age after age after age, feeding off of the blood of the living.” --Van Helsing, Bram Stoker’s Dracula “I kick ass for the lord!” --Father McGruder, Dead Alive “Some people believe that when you die there is a wonderful light. As bright as the sun but it doesn’t hurt to look into it. All the answers to all the questions you want to know are inside that light. And when you walk to it... you become a part of it forever. Now, some people die, but they don’t know they’re gone.” --Dr. Lesh, Poltergeist -1982 “And He who walks behind the rows did say; I will send outlanders amongst you... a man and a woman, and these outlanders will be unbelievers and profaners of the holy and the man will sorely test you for he has great power, even greater than that of the blue man!” –Children of the Corn “I have crossed oceans of time to find you.” –Vlad Dracula, Bram Stoker’s Dracula “My need to engage in homicidal behavior on a massive scale cannot be corrected, but, ah, I have no other way to fulfill my needs.” --Patrick Bateman, American Psycho “What we gotta do is we gotta snag that tall dude and stomp the shit out of him, and we’ll find out what the hell is going on up there. Yeah! We lay that sucker out flat and drive a stake right through his goddamn heart.” --Phantasm “I’ve seen enough horror movies to know any weirdo wearing a mask is never friendly.” --Friday the 13th VI “I am the monster the breathing men want to kill. I am Dracula.” –Vlad Dracula, Bram Stoker's Dracula “Pinhead: Your suffering will be legendary, even in Hell.” –Hellraiser II “Newscaster: All law enforcement agencies and the military have been organized to search out and destroy the marauding ghouls. The Survival Command Center at the Pentagon has disclosed that a ghoul can be killed by a shot in the head, or a heavy blow to the skull. Officials are quoted as explaining that since the brain of a ghoul has been activated by the radiation, the plan is kill the brain, and you kill the ghoul.” --Night of the Living Dead “To die! To be really dead. That must be glorious!” --Count Dracula, Dracula (1931) “They will say that I have shed innocent blood. What’s blood for, if not for shedding?” --Candyman “Otis: I’d like to kill somebody. Henry: Say that again. Otis: I’d like to kill somebody. Henry: Let's me and you go for a ride, Otis” –Henry: Portrait of A Serial Killer “Kirsty Cotton: Who are you? Pin Head: Explorers in the further regions of experience. Demons to some. Angels to others.” --Hellraiser “Radio Announcer: Civil defense officials in Cumberland have told newsmen that murder victims show evidence of having been partially devoured by their murderers. Consistent reports from witnesses to the effect that people who acted as if they were in a kind of trance were killing and eating their victims prompted authorities to examine the bodies of some of the victims. Medical authorities in Cumberland have concluded that in all cases, the killers are eating the flesh of the people they kill. And so this incredible story becomes more ghastly with each report. It's difficult to imagine such a thing actually happening, but these are the reports we have been receiving and passing on to you, reports which have been verified as completely as is possible in this confused situation.” --Night of the Living Dead New zombie novella, “Zombies of the Red Descent”: http://tinyurl.com/a7p7vw -end- (Thanks for reading.
