ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING FACULTY DIVISION OF NURSING & ALLIED HEALTH-MCCC/MTA Full time Permanent Position Tenure Track ________________________________________________________________________
General Statement of Duties: Primarily responsible for instructional preparation and teaching of nursing courses offered at the associated degree nursing level in the classroom, clinical and laboratory settings. The faculty member is responsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent with the philosophy and framework of the Division and in accordance with the Massachusetts Board of Nursing Registration and National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. The faculty member participates in the review and evaluation of nursing courses and in the evaluation of student performance. He/she participates in departmental, division and college-related committees and activities. Each faculty member is responsible for maintaining current R.N. licensure and expertise in teaching specialty. Supervision Received: Reports to the Dean of Nursing & Allied Health, Supervision Exercised: None Examples of Duties: (Not intended to be an exhaustive list) 1. Develops instructional material consistent with course objectives. 2. Collaborates with faculty colleagues to develop, support and implement the philosophy, conceptual framework, objectives and policies of the Division. 3. Actively participates in curriculum development, course refinement and program evaluation. 4. Actively participates in departmental committees. 5. Accepts responsibility of delegated assignments. 6. Demonstrates effective working relationships with individuals groups. 7. Keeps educational records as required. 8. Demonstrates flexibility within nursing specialties. 9. Effectively teaches in the classroom, lab and clinical area in the areas of acute care medical-surgical nursing and at least one other nursing setting. 10. Demonstrates computer skills for patient care and for educational and office requirements. 11. Uses strong organizational skills to manage and teach in nursing skills lab and nursing computer lab. 12. Prepares for class, lab and clinical according to the needs of the program. This often will include preparing clinical assignments at the clinical facility one-day in advance and communicating this information to students.

Curriculum Responsibilities: 1. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, implement and evaluate instructional materials in assigned areas of classroom, nursing laboratory and clinical teaching. 2. Assesses classroom, nursing laboratory and/or clinical student performance. 3. Utilizes a variety of appropriate teaching strategies including technology to correlate and enhance classroom and clinical teaching. 4. Identifies the learning needs of individual students and seek experiences to meet these needs. 5. Evaluates student’s progress against established criteria. 6. Assists students in their own self-evaluation. 7. Participates in evaluation of total program. 8. Serves as course coordinator as assigned. 9. Maintains expertise in area of teaching responsibility. Non Instructional Workload: 1. Acts as advisor to nursing students and potential nursing students. 2. Serves on departmental, division and college governance committees. 3. Participates in professional development, as stipulated by the MCCC contract, or as necessary for personal and professional growth. 4. Provides support and assistance for students having difficulty in achieving course objectives. 5. Serves as professional role model to students. 6. Participates in evaluation of peers, coordinators and administrators. 7. Maintains office hours according to MCCC contract. Qualification: 1. Master of Science in Nursing. 2. At least 2 years full time or three years part time experience teaching at a school of nursing. 3. Demonstrated curriculum development and classroom teaching skills. 4. Demonstrated computer skills for patient care and for educational and office requirements. 5. Strong written and oral communication skills 6. Proven dedication to student learning and academic support 7. Current MA licensure; clean CORI; updated health clearance and malpractice insurance.
