International student application process


A: Application for Admission and Programme Entry

    1        Send your completed Application Form and certified supporting documents to the International Office
             (address details on page 8).



    2        Your application will be matched with your Confidential Referee Reports.



    3        Your application will be acknowledged by email by the International Office.




    4        If your application is complete it will be forwarded to the College of Education Selection Co-ordinator
             for consideration.


    5        If you are successful, you will be sent an “Offer of a Place” by the International Office. The offer letter
             will contain details of the tuition fee and how to pay. When we receive the tuition fee, we will send you
             an official receipt via email.


    6        Please sign and return your “Offer of Place Response Form” to the International Office.



B: Apply for your Student Visa

    7        See page 7 for the student visa application process.



C: Application to Enrol

    8        You will be sent an Enrolment Pack which contains the 2010 Enrolment Handbook and Application to
             Enrol form. These are available from mid-September 2009.


    9        You will need to Apply to Enrol on or as soon as possible after the 7 October for programmes
             beginning in 2010. Your Offer of a Place letter will give you instructions on which courses to enrol in
             and how to apply online. You will need to state the appropriate courses on your application to enrol for
             the programme you have selected (information on these courses will be in the Enrolment Handbook).


   10        Once you have Applied to Enrol you will be sent an email confirmation.
             Please check that your courses and semester indicators are correct.


D: Enrolment Offer

    11       You will need to complete your enrolment in person at the University of Canterbury. When you have
             done this you will receive an Enrolment Offer. You must accept or decline the offer. Ensure that your
             courses and semester codes are correct before accepting the Enrolment Offer.


   12        Once you have accepted the Enrolment Offer and have met all requirements, you will be enrolled
             (ENR status). You may proceed to collect your Canterbury Card and begin your programme.
