interest in, and will soon be recruiting to fill
                                           a permanent full-time Regional Wildlife
                                           Ecologist position in Golden, Colorado.

THE POSITION: The Regional Wildlife Ecologist is located in the Renewable Resources Staff,
USDA Forest Service, Regional Office, Rocky Mountain Region, and reports to the Director of
Renewable Resources. The ecologist provides leadership in wildlife ecology including coordination
and collaboration with Forest Service Research and other science partners to bring relevant
knowledge to agency leadership and professional staff within the National Forest System. The
incumbent collaborates with partners and agency personnel developing species conservation plans,
designing wildlife inventories and monitoring, developing and maintaining species assessments, and
providing regional technology transfer and training. The wildlife ecologist works closely with a
team of Regional program leaders including vegetation ecologists and aquatic ecologists on a wide
range of resource management and science issues. Work requires knowledge of concepts and
current literature in wildlife ecology and conservation biology, and ability to apply that knowledge
to resolve difficult resource management issues such as the maintenance of viable populations.
Also requires knowledge in quantitative analysis, data management and ecological modeling
including habitat models, demographic models, and population simulation models.

DUTY STATION: The position is located at the Rocky Mountain Regional Office in Golden,
Colorado.
