Town of Williston Notice of Adoption Firearms Discharge Ordinance The Williston Selectboard has adopted amendments to the Firearms Discharge Ordinance following a public hearing held on August 18, 2008. The amendments include changing the definition of firearms in Section III; changing the discharge limitations in the restricted area (north of Interstate 89) in Section IV (A); changing the discharge limitations in the non-restricted area in Section IV (B) and changing the wording for exemptions in Section V. The amended ordinance will take effect on October 18, 2008 unless a petition signed by at least five percent of the voters of Williston is filed with the Town Clerk by October 2, 2008, asking for a vote to disapprove the adoption. If a petition is received, the Selectboard will warn a special meeting and the voters may vote on that question pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 1973.
