Review of Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in China
BCG Greater China is an important part of BCG’s Asia Pacific system. The firm has been
operating in the region since 1966, when Tokyo became BCG’s second office after Boston.
Today, BCG Asia Pacific has over 900 staff across 16 offices including four (Hong Kong,
Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei) in the region it calls “Greater China”
BCG claims to have pioneered the development of strategy consulting in Greater China in the
1980s. Across Greater China, BCG operates as one consulting practice, with integrated staffing,
training, and career development. Client projects are staffed from offices across their Greater
China practice. Consultants in Greater China serve local Chinese clients and multinational
BCG in China works in a variety of industries including consumer goods, financial services,
health care, and IT. Each project is led by an Officer with a team of consulting staff ranging
from Associates, Consultants, and Project Leaders to Managers. The team always consists of a
mix of local and international professionals with local and overseas education and work
experience in a variety of functions and industries.
