									  How to Install the Latest Version of the S/MIME Control in Outlook Web Access in Windows Vista



If the latest version of the S/MIME control is not loaded while using Outlook Web Access, you will see a
red “x” in the area where the body of the message should be.




To load the latest S/MIME control, click on the Options button located on the bottom of the left window
pane. A screenshot is shown below. (Arrow 1)

    Scroll down through the right pane until you see the E-mail Security section. At the bottom of this
    section there will be a “Download” button located under the line that says “Click here to install the
    latest version of the S/MIME Control. When the file download dialog appears, choose Open.” (Arrow 2)
    Click on the “Download” button. The following dialog box will be displayed.




    Click the Run button on the dialog box. If User Account Control is enabled, the User Account Control
    dialog box will be displayed. Click Continue on this dialog box to continue loading the S/MIME control.
    After the control is loaded, a gold bar will be displayed in the Internet Explorer window as shown below.
Right click on the gold bar, and click Run ActiveX Control. The following dialog box will be displayed.




Click the Run button on the dialog box to run the ActiveX control. Click on the Inbox button or folder to
return to your mailbox. Click on the New button to create a new message. A gold bar will be displayed in
the Internet Explorer window. This is shown below.
Right click on the gold bar, and click Run ActiveX Control. The following dialog box will be displayed.
Click the Run button on the dialog box. The S/MIME control will then be installed. When you create a
new message or reply or forward a message, the message window will display a text area where the
body of the message should be. This is shown below.
