AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES BALTIMORE URBAN DEBATE LEAGUE BALTIMORE CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM
This agreement is made and entered into on _____________________ between: _________________, hereinafter referred to as the “debate coach” and the Baltimore Urban Debate League, hereinafter referred to as BUDL, in conjunction with the Baltimore City Public School System, hereinafter referred to as BCPSS. The parties involved hereto agree as follows: 1. PERIOD OF AGREEMENT, shall be for one academic year beginning on________ ____________and ending on _________________The agreement shall be subject to cancellation by either party on 30 days written notice to the other. 2. DUTIES OF THE DEBATE COACH, in exchange for the stipend paid to the Debate Coach under this agreement, shall be as follows: Coordinate and facilitate regular meetings (at least two hours a week) of the school’s debate squad, Attend at least seven local tournaments (BUDL, BCFL and NFL sponsored tournaments may qualify for this requirement), Participate in BUDL’s two Public Debate Months by coordinating school or community based debates to recruit new students and gain squad and league visibility, Train and actively work with at least 16 students in debate, Maintain an active competitive debate squad of at least four teams, as evidenced by average numbers of participants at least seven tournaments,* Recruit new squad members, Publicize and promote the debate squad within your school community, Provide advance registration to league manager of teams participating in tournaments, Serve as a judge at BUDL tournaments, Arrange transportation to tournaments and chaperone students, Be an active member of the National Forensic League (NFL) maintaining and reporting monthly statistics to the NFL, Actively participate in reporting bi-weekly data to track your BUDL activities, student participation and impact, Communicate regularly with BUDL coordinators, And attend coaches workshops and appropriate training, including summer institute, where needed.

EMPLOYEE STIPEND of $2500.00 shall be awarded in two installments, one following the first four months of the agreement and the remainder at the completion of the contract period. The debate coach will be eligible for an additional $500 ($3000.00 total stipend) if the coach does the following: Meet all of the requirements listed above, Attend, judge and coach teams at at least 11 total policy debate tournaments (Local, regional and national tournaments may qualify for this requirement), And attend and coach teams from their school at the National Forensic League (NFL) qualifier tournament. If this agreement is cancelled prior to the completion of the contract period, the debate coach may be entitled to a partial stipend for work already completed, at the discretion of league administrators.
