Our story... After gaining custody of my sister's two children in 2004, I, Misty, had little time for matters of the heart. School and my very part-time job left just enough time for motherhood. My brother's girlfriend insisted upon setting me up with her handsome cousin, Richard. While not one for blind dates, I was quite skeptical. I later decided that meeting him couldn't hurt anything, so I got his phone number. The first time that I called, a deep voice answered and, in my nervous fluster, I asked to speak to Ricky. The voice promptly responded that 'there is no one here by that name." I quickly called our love doctor who said that Ricky was her uncle and that Richard was called Richard. I felt like a complete idiot at the time. I decided not to call him back that night. I did call him the next day when we decided to meet at Chik-FilA for family night. We could chat while the children played. As the evening was coming to a close, my daughter comes up to us to say that her brother had soiled his diaper and refused to come down. After calling for him twice, Richard quickly took matters into his own hands and rushed into the play-tubes. They both soon came down the slide where he had smelly-man on his lap. I changed the diaper and we parted so that I could keep our bed-time schedule. I was very impressed with his daddy skills. The next day I met him after I got out of class. We went to his childhood creek where he taught me how to skip rocks and he told me stories of his childhood. It was a wonderful afternoon. We then spoke often on the phone and I invited him to dinner a couple of times. We soon knew that we were a match made from heaven. One day he showed up and asked me if I would accompany him to a surprise location. My children spent the night at grandma's, so, I quickly changed, called grandma, and we were off. The roadtrip led us to familiar territory. I found myself in strappy heels parked beside his childhood creek. He walked, very methodically, me to stand beside the creek where he dropped to his knees and asked me to be his wife. I was overcome with joy and quickly said yes.It was the most wonderful day of my life.
