E3: SAMPLE JOB DESCRIPTION DRAFT JOB DESCRIPTION Development Worker Accountable to: Grade: Hours: Holiday Entitlement: Probationary Period Contract of Employment: Job Purpose To work collaboratively and co-operatively with people in the area To work with the Steering Group to achieve the development of a new multifunctional and intergenerational worship centre. To provide a focus for the Community To enable the Community to participate thereby providing greater cohesion and progress in the attainment of regeneration Duties 1. To maintain close links with existing projects, faith and community groups, businesses and individuals to facilitate partnership working 2. To enable the community to participate in consultation events which identify the need for a multifunctional and intergenerational worship centre and to generate a sense of community cohesion, celebration of diversity and challenging negative stereotypes that isolate people 3. To work with the Architect in the design of the building 4. To work with the Council in obtaining planning permission 5. To identify appropriate sources of funding and assist in the process of applying for that funding 6. To oversee the building work, ensuring that lines of communication are kept open and that all ecumenical partners are kept informed, as well as the wider community 7. To write a development plan with the steering group for the new building, enabling the worship centre to become a focus for community activity where needs can be identified, met in the building and/or directed to appropriate venues 8. To work with community groups, agencies and the church council to make sure that the building is self-financing 9. To work alongside other agencies and community groups in any future developments 10. To maintain records and statistics as agreed 11. To be part of the steering group and to give regular reports 12. To identify and meet own training needs Professional Responsibilities 1. To co-operate with the Steering Group in the development and expansion of the project 2. To ensure a high standard of professional conduct in dealing with other services and members of the public 3. To attend team meetings 4. To be conscious of the necessity for good public relations with the local community 5. To participate in training courses as required 6.
