                                         2008 Latin America Tour
December 2007

Dear Colleague:

As the director of the September 2008 CIS Tour to South and Central America, I am very excited to send preliminary
information about our upcoming tour. It promises to be both productive and enjoyable.

CIS Tours are affiliated with the Council of International Schools (CIS) which has been sponsoring tours to Europe,
Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America for over 25 years. We are a non-profit organization of admission
professionals who volunteer our time in planning first-rate recruitment tours. The tour description, cost, itinerary and
application for participation can be found in this packet or downloaded from (click on Services for
Higher Education).

Tour participants will depart from DFW or Houston on Monday September 8th and return to the US on Friday,
September 25th. The following itinerary is proposed:

Sao Paulo, Brazil San Jose, Costa Rica
         Montevideo, Uruguay Panamá City, Panamá
Buenos Aires, Argentina Guatemala City, Guatemala
Santiago de Chile, Chile Managua, Nicaragua
         Quito, Ecuador Guadalajara, México
         Caracas, Venezuela

The estimated cost of the tour is $12,300, and non- CIS member institutions are billed an additional $200 surcharge.

The CIS tour focuses on undergraduate recruitment. We visit international schools that traditionally have sent
students to the United States and invite local non-international high schools to attend these programs. Tour
participants will conduct in-depth workshops to help students, parents, guidance counselors and teachers understand
topics such as admission, financial aid, scholarships and adjustment to college life. We will interact with staff of US
Educational Advising Centers in several cities as well. College representatives will have an incredible opportunity to
build relationships with guidance counselors whose cities we are not visiting, since we have arranged for them to spend
a day with us at one of our tour stops. Finally, the schedule will allow for “institutional time” whenever possible, so
that tour participants can meet with alumni and students on an individual basis.

You will be considered if you complete the enclosed application and have met all the guidelines for participation. An
$800 deposit is required with your application by April 15, 2008. If for any reason your institution cannot be
accommodated on the tour, your deposit will be refunded.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Or, you may contact Paula Mitchell, Regional Director
of the CIS Office of Higher Education, at (607) 272 5758 or

I look forward to traveling with you!
