3rd ESU Masterclass on Medical treatment for urological cancer
Welcome to Barcelona
This teaching programme has been developed by close collaboration between the European Association of Urology (EAU), the European School of Urology (ESU) and the European Board of Urology (EBU). With rapid advances in cancer research, the oncologically oriented urologist requires insights on the clinical applicability and impact of the latest range of surgical and medical treatment strategies. The masterclass is a prime venue to scrutinise current practices and survey the latest therapies that are still being tried or tested in various medical disciplines involved in cancer therapy. We aim to do more than provide a comprehensive update for urologists. We also recognise the need, as suggested by the medical oncologists in our faculty, to open the masterclass to other specialists, such as our colleagues from medical oncology and radiotherapy. By doing so we will also achieve a significant gain in knowledge by viewing the same issues from another perspective. The goal is to provide an overview of the different aspects of hormonal and intravesical treatment, chemoprevention, immunotherapy, targeted therapies and systemic cytotoxic chemotherapy and palliation, supplemented with case discussions and presentations. The masterclass is the best possible preparation for an EBU coordinated examination, which can be taken at the end of the course. All participants receive a certificate acknowledging their participation. We would like to encourage all interested urologists to register in time for the 3rd ESU Masterclass on Medical treatment for urological cancer.

Programme
The format consists of three modules, beginning on Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon. Each module is constructed of short state-of-the-art lectures followed by debates, case reports and interactive discussions.

Accreditation
The 3rd ESU Masterclass on Medical treatment for urological cancer is accredited within the EU-ACME programme by the European Board of Urology in compliance with the EBU/UEMS regulations. Participants of the EU-ACME programme and EAU Active Members receive 1,5 credit points per hour with a maximum of nine credit points per day. The meeting will also be accredited by different national urological societies. The list of national accreditation points will be published in the programme book. European Board Of Urology Examination
The Examination Committee of the EBU will organise a written examination following the Masterclass on Sunday, 29 June 2008 from 13.00 – 15.00. This written examination covers the topics presented during the masterclass and consists of maximum 100 multiple choice questions which are to be completed within two hours. To name a few reasons for participating in the EBU examination: a. The EBU examination offers you the opportunity to test your knowledge on the topics taught during the ESU masterclass b. It is a powerful tool to find out to the extent of what you master the knowledge on medical cancer treatment c. Participants (EU-ACME and EAU Active members) will gain three additional credit points d. All participants receive a certificate acknowledging their participation. The examination fee is € 50.
