THE STUDY ALSO FINDS MORE BOYS THAN GIRLS HAD MISPERCEPTIONS ABOUT THEIR WEIGHT. DOCTORS SAY IT'S BEST FOR OVERWEIGHT TEENS TO GET HEALTHY WHILE THEY'RE STILL YOUNG, BECAUSE OVERWEIGHT YOUNG PEOPLE ARE MORE LIKELY TO BECOME OVERWEIGHT ADULTS. [JUSTIN] NOW AN UPDATE TO A STORY WE TOLD YOU ABOUT LAST WEEK…10 AMERICANS ARE STILL IN A JAIL IN HAITI…ACCUSED OF KIDNAPPING HAITIAN CHILDREN…THE AMERICANS CLAIM IT'S ALL A BIG MISUNDERSTANDING…NOW IN AN EXCLUSIVE JAIL TALK WITH CBS NEWS THE LEADER OF THE AMERICAN GROUP SPEAKS OUT, JESSICA KUMARI HAS THE STORY. we have not in any way trafficked or kidnapped children. we came here out of love in our hearts for these children LAURA SILSBY IS THE LEADER OF THE GROUP OF AMERICANS - MOST FROM A BAPTIST CHURCH IN IDAHO. THIS BEHIND THE SCENES VIDEO ACQUIRED BY CBS NEWS SHOWS THE AMERICANS IN THEIR HAITIAN JAIL CELLS - WHERE THEY'VE BEEN FOR MORE THAN A WEEK. THEY SAY THEY CAME TO HAITI ON A HUMANITARIAN MISSION - BUT HAITIAN OFFICIALS ARRESTED THE AMERICANS AFTER THEY TRIED TO TAKE 33 HAITIAN CHILDREN INTO THE NEIGHBORING DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. HAITIAN OFFICIALS ACCUSE THEM OF KIDNAPPING. THE AMERICANS SAY THEY WERE RESCUING THE CHILDREN AND BRINGING THEM TO AN ORPHANAGE SINCE THEIR OWN PARENTS HAD DIED most of the parents died in the earthquake. UNDER TOUGH INTERROGATION, SILSBY STICKS TO HER CLAIM most of their parents are dead 3 OF THE AMERICANS IN THE GROUP BACK HER UP all those children were orphans. we asked them all - are their parents here? we asked every single one of them. BUT THE FATHER OF ONE OF THE CHILDREN SAYS IT'S NOT TRUE. THIS MAN LIVES IN THE TINY MOUNTAIN VILLAGE WHICH IS HOME TO 20 OF THE 33 CHILDREN. HE SAYS HE GAVE HIS TWO YOUNG DAUGHTERS TO THE AMERICANS ON THE PROMISE OF A BETTER LIFE. HE ALSO SAYS HE TOLD LAURA SILSBSY THAT LOTS OF THESE KIDS HAD PARENTS. EVEN IF THE AMERICANS HAD GOOD INTENTIONS. HAITIAN OFFICIALS SAY THEY DID NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY OR THE CORRECT PAPERWORK TO TAKE THE CHILDREN. we had all the documents we thought we were supposed to have. AND THIS INCIDENT IS HAVING ANOTHER UNINTENTIONAL CONSEQUENCE. IT'S MADE OTHER AID WORKERS NERVOUS THAT THEY COULD ALSO BE ARRESTED AND THAT HAS SLOWED DOWN EVACUATIONS OF CRITICALLY INJURED CHILDREN FROM HAITI TO THE UNITED STATES. FROM AN AVERAGE OF 15 TO 3 PEOPLE A DAY. OFFICIALS ADMIT THEY'RE NERVOUS TO TRANSPORT ANYONE WITHOUT PROPER HAITIAN AND AMERICAN APPROVAL EVEN IF IT'S A LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION. IN THE MEANTIME ONE DOCTOR SAYS AT LEAST 10 CHILDREN HAVE DIED OR BECOME WORSE WHILE WAITING TO BE AIRLIFTED OUT OF THE COUNTRY. AS FOR THE CHILDREN WHO WERE TAKEN BY THE AMERICANS, THEY'RE REPORTEDLY IN A HAITIAN ORPHANAGE THAT IS WORKING TO REUNITE THEM WITH THEIR FAMILIES. MEANWHILE THE FATE OF THE AMERICANS LIES WITH THE HAITIAN GOVERNMENT. we have in no way wanted to disrespect the Haitian government. we have tried our best to comply with all that they have asked us to do. we have faced a very challenging and confusing legal process here THE LANGUAGE BARRIER IS NOT HELPING THE SITUATION. MOST HAITIANS SPEAK CREOLE. IN FACT HERE THE HAITIAN APPOINTED LAWYER WHO IS REPRESENTING THE AMERICANS ADMITS HE UNDERSTANDS A LITTLE ENGLISH BUT DOESN'T SPEAK ANY. SILSBY CALLS THE ENTIRE PROCESS - CONFUSING our hearts are heavy, because we know we have not done what is being charged against us and we just want, we want the truth to be revealed. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THE AMERICANS COULD BE TRIED IN A U-S COURT. THIS WEEK HAITI'S PRIME MINISTER ANNOUNCED THEY'RE CONSIDERING THIS POSSIBILITY SINCE MOST GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS IN HAITI - INCLUDING COUNTRY'S COURTS - WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED IN THE EARTHQUAKE [JUSTIN] LINDSEY VONN? KNOW THAT NAME? WELL, STARTING THIS WEEK, YOU'RE GOING TO BE HEARING A LOT OF MORE ABOUT THE STAR SKIER ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WINTER GAMES KICK OFF. STEVEN FABIAN SAT DOWN WITH LINDSEY, WHO REACHED THE TOP OF HER SPORT, BY GOING DOWNHILL. [STEVEN] SHE'S HAD MORE WORLD CUP SUCCESS THAN ANY WOMAN IN U-S HISTORY -- 32 VICTORIES to be exact AND SHE'S THE REIGNING WORLD CHAMPION. SF: And you're the only person to win it two years in a row, right? So, are you the most decorated skier of all time. LV: Kinda, yeah. SHE'S NOT EXAGGERATING. ALPINE SKIER LINDSEY VONN IS NOW ONE WIN AWAY FROM BEING THE BEST AMERICAN SKIER IN HISTORY, MAN OR WOMAN. IN THE PAST YEAR ALONE, SHE'S HAS RACKED UP 14 WORLD CUP VICTORIES, A RECORD FOR ANY AMERICAN WOMAN. NOW SHE'S GOT HER SIGHTS SET ON ANOTHER OLYMPIC GAMES. This will be my third Olympics, there are not many people who can say that at 24. But, it's really cool. I feel very honored to be able to represent the US in the Olympics again. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH AN OLYMPIC MEDAL IS ALL THAT HAS ELUDED VONN, HER FIRST TRIP TO THE 2002 SALT LAKE CITY GAMES AS A SEVENTEEN YEAR-OLD RESULTED IN A SIXTH PLACE FINISH AND IN 2006-- A CRASH. Torino Olympics were really tough. You know, I came in there feeling really good, feeling ready to try and get a medal, and then I crashed in the second downhill training run, um, I crashed going like 75 miles per hour. once the doctor had completed the CAT scans, CT scans, MRIs and they all came back negative for any fractures, I was like, 'ok, when can I ski again? When can i get back out there?' SHE GOT BACK 'OUT THERE' 42-HOURS LATER AND ALTHOUGH SHE DIDN'T MEDAL, SHE WON'T FORGET THE EXPERIENCE. LV: i actually think it's good to remember Torino, and it's good to remember what could have been, because that crash did give me a lot of motivation, and I think, um, even though it was disappointing at the time, it was one of the best things that happened to me. FLASH FORWARD - FOUR YEARS LATER AND VONN IS ON TOP OF THE WORLD, LANDING ENDORSEMENT DEALS AND EVEN DRAWING COMPARISONS TO ANOTHER FAMOUS OLYMPIAN. SF: what about, you know you're talking about pressure from the media and stuff, what about, because we've heard it, 'she's going to be the Michael Phelps of these Olympics.' What do you think when you hear that? LV: I don't think of myself like that, I'm just out there trying to do the best i can every day. SHE'S EXPECTED TO MEDAL IN ALL FIVE ALPINE EVENTS, DESPITE AN INJURY THAT KEPT HER IN A BRACE DURING RACES IN JANUARY. VONN IS DETERMINED TO PREVENT ANY DISTRACTIONS FROM WINNING A MEDAL. I know it's going to be really tough, going to be a lot of pressure and a lot of media going on, I have to try stay focused and , and um i'm going to try and handle that as best as I can. I feel like this could be good, and I'm definitely going to work as hard as I can to do the best i can on every race. STEVEN FABIAN, CH1 NEWS. [JUSTIN] FOR MORE ON LINDSEY VONN, DON'T MISS WINTER-GAMES OVER AT CH1.COM… AND OPENING CEREMONIES ARE THIS FRIDAY YOU CAN CATCH THEM ON N-B-C. ALRIGHT, GUYS, OUR TIME'S UP TODAY. I'M JUSTIN FINCH.
