The 2007 IRS Form W-2, "Wage and Tax Statement", is scheduled to be mailed beginning the week of January 7, 2008. The W-2 statement will be mailed directly to your mailing address as recorded in the Human Resource/Payroll system as of December 31, 2007. Please allow sufficient time for delivery of the Form W-2. Duplicate W -2 forms for 2007 will not be available until February 1, 2008. Please do not request a duplicate W-2 before that date. A duplicate W-2 should only be requested if the original W-2 is not delivered by January 31, or the W-2 is lost. You should always maintain your Employee copy of the W-2 form for your records. If you need to provide a copy of your W-2 to another entity such as a financial institution, you should provide them with a copy of your Employee copy of your W-2 form. You are now able to view W-2 data via Employee Self Service (ESS) effective January 7, 2008. Although this is not an "official" tax document that can be sent to the taxing authority, this is useful for "e-filing" or for informational purposes. Individuals who have access to Employee Self Service will select Payroll Information for the option to display their W2/W2C Data, and should select the year 2007 to view their most recent information. You can obtain your 2007 deduction totals by viewing your final “Employee Pay Statement" for 2007. A supplemental letter will not be provided for these items. The 2007 Form W-2 is a self-sealing, pre-printed form that will be folded, sealed and mailed by the Department of General Services. Please carefully follow printed instructions on the outside of the mailing to prevent any damage while opening the Form W-2. Employees who received military stipend payments in 2007 will receive an IRS Form 1099MISC for federal tax purposes. The Form 1099-MISC will be mailed by January 31, 2008. Finally, if you receive multiple envelopes with W-2 documents, do not discard them. Each W-2 document contains different information and is necessary for 2007 tax return preparation.
