Samsung Yepp stick type MP3, U4
I’ve met the Samsung YP-U4 which was expected before it was released. Internal USB MP3 playsers give great convenience to people to use them. Most of all, just plugging MP3 players to a PC, a window pops up as an external disk to use like a USB drive. Without any transfer program, with copy and paste, users can listen to music with the U4. Of course, other files such as text, video, and pictures can be put in the U4 like a USB drive. On top of that, while being plugged into a USB port, it can be charged. That is killing two bird with one shot.
Let’s take a look at the USB jack which is the biggest feature of the U4. At the side, there’s a USB slide button, and just by pushing it up, the USB pops up with ‘tic’ sound. The popped USB jack is so strong that not be pushed in by force. Former USB type MP3 players became loose by long time using, and considering this point in the U4, they’ve given a solution for that. When pushing it in, you have to put it in with pushing the slide button up.

Rounding edge is impressive in the shape. 27.5 weight and 27 x 83 x 13 mm size are light and small. It uses touch type interface. There are 4 way and a center buttons, and back button at the right back side. There is white dot to find out the location of the touch buttons, but because of the small size of the U4 and big size of my fingers, I made mistakes to touch it. I think users need some time to be familiar with the interface.

o U4 GUI
Let’s take a look at the U4 GUI(Graphic User Interface). General GUI consists of dots. Whenever turning menus, the dots are scattered, and become an icon. I could see they tried to show more splendid video in the 1 inch gray OLED.

Despite the gray color, it supports an album art. But, it’s too small to see, so I think users will not see it due to the small size.

The last function to show the splendid GUI is a screensaver. When it’s not controlled for a while, there will be a show. With the screensaver, the LED lights like dancing.

o U4 Package
Small transparent plastic box, and product emphasized U4 package. The composition of the package is really neat. Body, earphone, earphone cover, CD, and manual are included.
o U4 Color
There will be 3 colors such as Crystal rose, Navy purple, and Ocean blue. As if litmus paper absorbs water, the body is composed with the gradation of each color.
