Program Executive Master of Business Administration – University of Illinois and University of Warsaw THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS-WARSAW UNIVERSITY EXECUTIVE MBA PROGRAM (WIEMBA) INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS FOR CLASS XVII The Warsaw-Illinois Executive MBA program is now accepting applications for Class XVI. To date, over 700 individuals have received degrees from this program. These individuals are managers, business professionals and entrepreneurs at the most prestigious firms in Poland, the rest of the EU, and Europe. Graduates of the Illinois-Warsaw EMBA program will receive an MBA degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (a top-tier research university and undergraduate, graduate and professional school) and a Certificate of Postgraduate Studies from Warsaw University. The Illinois degree is identical to that received by students in the College of Business at the University of Illinois. ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES Successful applicants to the EMBA program must fulfill all the admissions requirements of the Graduate College at the University of Illinois as well as the entrance requirements for postgraduate study at Warsaw University. Fulfillment of these requirements ensures the continuing quality and success of the EMBA program. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: • A University degree (Polish, US or other) – o Applicants must submit proof of a Masters Degree or it’s equivalent (this includes Medical and Law Degrees; for applicants with US degrees, a Bachelor’s Degree is sufficient); An average grade point average (GPA) of at least 4.0 on a 5.0 scale for the last two years of previous university study – o Applicants must submit either a certified copy of their transcript from the last two years of university study (when available), or a transcription of the grades for the last two years of university study and photo copies of the relevant index book pages; A minimum of three years of professional experience, including managerial responsibilities – o Applicants must submit a narrative of their work experience; A minimum of two letters of reference from current and/or former employers/supervisors – o All letters are confidential and will not be released to the applicant; • • • XVII Cohort EMBA: September 2008-December 2009 Contact WIEMBA: tel. +48 (22) 625 32 83 and 625 31 26, e-mail: mba@uw.edu.pl, www: www.mba.uw.edu.pl Program Executive Master of Business Administration – University of Illinois and University of Warsaw • A working knowledge of English (written and spoken) – o Proficiency in English (for non-native English speakers or those without a degree from a US institution) must be demonstrated either by submission of the TOEFL score (not required), a satisfactory grade on our admissions examination, or other proof of proficiency; Satisfactory completion of an entrance examination on: o mathematics (basic calculus level), logical reasoning, and problem solving o English language Date of the written exam – August 30, 2008 (Saturday), 10:00 AM at our school; Personal Interview (in English) with faculty and administrators from both Universities – Illinois and Warsaw, and graduates of the EMBA program: o Applicants must be available for interviews on September 1, 2008; we will accommodate schedules as much as we can. The purpose of the interview is to learn more about each applicant in terms of experiences, motivation, and aptitude relevant to graduate study. In addition, the applicant’s ability to converse at an acceptable level in English will be evaluated. • • ADMISSION PROCEDURES: Deadline for submission of documents is set on August 28, 2008. Every applicant must pay fee of 1000 PLN for the application process and the entrance examination. These fee can be paid either in cash at the program office on Nowy Świat, or to the bank account: Bank Millennium 32 1160 2202 0000 0001 0838 9289 Once the applicant has completed all of the admissions requirements, the admissions committee will make a decision, and forward the application to the Graduate College at the University of Illinois. When there are more qualified applicants than places in the class, the committee may put an applicant on a waiting list. Placement on the waiting list does not guarantee admission into the program. Every applicant will receive a letter from the EMBA program informing the applicant of the admission decision. At the time of admission to the program, the applicant must pay a deposit of 5000 PLN to secure a place in the class. This deposit will be credited against the outstanding fees for the program. If the deposit is not received in a timely fashion, the applicant may loose their place in the class, and an individual from the waiting list may be accepted. Tuition and fee is payable in three installments in Polish Złoties (PLN) by 14 September 2008, 16 February 2009 and 15 September 2009. The following are completely covered by the fee: Program tuitions at the University of Illinois and Warsaw University; Main costs of the field trip to the US (travel and lodging expenses); Administrative fees at the University of Illinois and Warsaw University; Course materials distributed during the program; Access to the University of Illinois Library Internet resources and data bases normally available at no charge to students in residence at Illinois; Access to the Warsaw University: Main Library and School of Business Library; Diploma from the University of Illinois; Refreshments The following are NOT covered by the fee for the program, and are the responsibility of each individual student: Supplementary text books; Issue of the Warsaw University Certificate and certified copies of University of Illinois transcripts.
