About the course
The MBA (Logistics) is a postgraduate, post-experience course designed in consultation with regional and national employers. We meet the increasing demands from individuals, organisations and regulatory bodies for planned, relevant and essentially practical management development specific to the logistics sector. It builds upon your knowledge and experience within logistics, purchasing and supply chain management to develop your management skills and you'll explore issues in business and organisation management. You'll take a strategic perspective, undertaking a detailed review of operational management, including international scenarios. On completion of the MBA you will have a much greater awareness of
both the theory and practice of logistics management and how these are integrated in the workplace As an MBA student at Derby you are guaranteed Associate Membership of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This is the leading body for professional management and enables you to make more of yourself as a manager, get involved in local events and use the Institute's Management Information Centre. The MBA (Logistics) comprises three stages, the Postgraduate Certificate, the Postgraduate Diploma and the final Master's stage. It can be studied full time over one year, or part time over three years. Each stage is a recognised qualification in its own right and part time students only register for one stage at a time. The emphasis is on the integration of contemporary theory and practice and you will study Leading Strategic Change for Logistics and Corporate Responsibility. You will also complete a substantial Independent Study in which you'll develop and demonstrate your powers of rigorous analysis, critical enquiry, clear expression and independent judgement. Throughout the course you'll learn in a variety of ways including lectures and seminars, group work, videos, CD Rom and web-based learning, discussion groups, business simulation, residentials and case studies.
