Elections to the Western Circuit take place at Grand Night in the Michaelmas,
Hilary and Trinity terms. Grand Nights are traditionally held in March, July
and November in Bristol, Winchester and Exeter respectively. It is a condition
of election that the applicant be a practising barrister and they attend the Grand
Night of their election. The Proposer and Seconder are welcome to attend but it
is not compulsory. The current rates of annual subscription which are payable
on election and annually on March 1st and cover the current year, 1st January to
31st December are:

             Juniors      £75                  Silks    £150

Those elected in any year at Exeter Grand Night are excused payment until the
following March unless they wish to attend an education course after July in
any year and wish to take advantage of the Circuit course rate. Any person
taking silk is excused the uplift to the higher rate until the following year.

Durrant M.B.E., on 01962 883028. You may be asked to make a one-minute
speech at that Grand Night.


It is hoped that all newly elected members will make their very best endeavours
to dine frequently in Circuit Mess, attend Circuit functions and participate in
Circuit life generally.
