JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Parish Business Manager I. Identifying Information a. Full-time b. Exempt c. Reports to: Pastor/Parish Director II. Functions of the Job The parish business manager is a professional administrator in support of the pastor. This person is a steward of the physical, financial, and personnel resources of the parish(es), and enables other ministries to function effectively. III. Position Content Responsible for parish management Directs routine parish maintenance, manages major repairs and renovations, schedules use of facilities, oversees security systems and acts as liaison to diocesan insurance agency and others. Responsible for overseeing financial affairs of parish including: prepares, administers and reviews budget process in collaboration with the pastor, parish coordinator, or parish director and the finance council; develops revenue; administer the purchasing system; oversees tabulation and deposit of offertory collections; acts as liaison between the parish and the diocese in financial matters. Responsible for personnel management in collaboration with the Pastor or parish director including: implements personnel policies, develops hiring and termination procedures, job descriptions, etc.; manages payment of salaries and benefits; directs management of the parish office; directs purchasing procedures and oversees the security of personnel. Responsible for communication and information systems including: coordinates the preparation of the Sunday bulletin, including advertising; ensures the maintenance of the parish census; directs the operation of the computer equipment; oversees the management of parish financial records. Education, Training, Experience Minimum bachelor’s degree (finance, business, administration) Minimum 5 years experience in non-profit sector Budget, accounting, investment and real estate experience Experience in grant writing, financial report preparation Experience in a supervisory position V.
