Please read all items carefully and respond accordingly. The Ramada Inn (662) 844-4111, and the Summit (662) 844-4343 are the only two hotels that will accept a school check. Directors must make their own reservations. School checks must include school tax ID number. Failure to follow any of the rules set forth here and/or the clinic program, including curfews and concert attendance, will result in dismissal from the clinic and a school’s exclusion from future clinic participation. Submit to: Toni Reece Aberdeen High School PO Drawer 607 Aberdeen, MS 39730 Make arrangements for Wednesday housing. 4. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. All activities will be held at the Bancorp South Center 2. Registration is Thursday, December 11 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Bancorp South Arena. Please call 601-433-5362 to notify of late arrival. Each director is responsible for the registration of his/her own students. Another band director may not register your students. 3. Substitutions are not permitted without permission from Andy Sanders. 4. No fees will be refunded for cancellations made after December 1, 2008. Schools are responsible for all fees, regardless of attendance, after December 1, 2008. 5. Students will be housed at the Ramada Inn. Students may NOT stay with directors or parents. 6. Directors are to make their own room reservations. Tell the hotel that you are with the MBA. 7. The final concert will be held at the Bancorp South Arena Saturday, December 13, 2008, beginning at 11:00 a.m. 8. Students will be expected to be in attendance at all clinic events and rehearsals. AUDITION INFORMATION Times: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Flutes, Clarinets, Trumpets, and Percussion 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Low Clarinets 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Alto Saxophones 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Euphoniums and Tubas 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Horns and Trombones 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Double Reeds 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Tenor Saxophones and Baritone Saxophones Requirements: Winds: Concert A, D, G, C, F, Bb,Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, scales, Chromatic, and sight-reading. Scales must memorized. Percussion: Long roll, 5-stroke roll, 9-stroke roll, Single Paradiddle, Flam, Flam Accent, Flam Paradiddle, Flam Drag, Single Ratamacue, Triple Ratamacue, and sight-reading. Percussion will audition as listed on the clinic list; snare or mallets, but not both. There will be no timpani audition. STUDENT INFORMATION 1. EACH STUDENT MUST BRING A STAND. 2. Uniforms will be needed for the final concert. 3. Students will provide their own wind instruments and appropriate accessories including mutes. Mallet instruments, timpani, and bass drum will be provided. 4. Percussionists should bring: a. Concert snare drum b. Concert snare sticks c. A variety of timpani mallets d. A variety of keyboard mallets e. Suspended cymbal mallets f. Bass Drum mallet 5. Students are responsible for their own meals. 6. Students should dress to reflect the importance of this event. DIRECTOR INFORMATION 1. Displays will be in the Bancorp South Arena and will open Thursday morning. If the clinic is to remain solvent, directors must visit each of the displayers. If directors refuse to patronize the display area, the displayers, whose support is the life blood of this event, will not return. 2. CEU’s will be offered by Northeast Community College. 3. Directors must ensure that students have appropriate medical release forms. MBA, Inc., assumes no responsibility for individual students. 4. The Rigdons should be notified of any special medical conditions students’ may have (see housing sheet). 5. Directors are responsible for supervision of their students and may not leave students under the supervision of parents. 6. A separate check is needed for students’ housing for Wednesday night.
