The Carroll Soil and Water Conservation District presents the Annual Report for 2008
with appreciation to the landowners and operators who have contributed to the
accomplishments and goals reached during the past year. We commend them for making
great strides in applying conservation to the land.


                            Commissioner Expense Budget

The 1-M appropriation is provided to pay soil and water conservation district
commissioners and assistant commissioners’ expenses as well as district office supplies
and expenses.

                     Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)

     EQIP is a cost share and incentive based program to assist landowners in applying
  conservation practices to conserve soil, protect water quality, and enhance wildlife

  The Carroll County Commissioners nominated Joseph Shirbroun for Outstanding Soil
  and Water Conservation District Commissioner.

                      Celebrate Conservation (4/27/2008 thru 5/4/2008)

       The District celebrated Soil Stewardship week by distributing Soil Stewardship
        materials to all Carroll County churches and schools who expressed interest.
         ‘Water is Life’ materials included programs, litanies, placemats, children’s
             activity sheets and educational booklets for classroom instruction.

                                      CDI Scholarship
    Jessie Grossman, daughter of Susan and Don Grossman, was selected as the first
    place District Scholarship winner and was awarded $400.00. Her application was
                 forwarded to the regional level for consideration as well.

    Tiffany Hoffman, daughter of Karen and Kevin Hoffman, was selected as the 2nd
             place District Scholarship winner and was awarded $350.00.
