EI Staff Descriptions – AUTUMN 2005
Brian Beardsley, Senior Flash Developer/ Information & Software Architect, has experience in server architecture, software development, UI design, and project management. Duties: Assist with maintaining and updating current Network and Server infrastructure; Work with Faculty to create interactive, accessible, Web-delivered learning software; develop Flash based, reusable Distance Learning tools and simulation programs; Assist and train Faculty in Breeze for Web conferencing and Distance Learning; Evaluate, implement and support an online assessment software for Students and Faculty. Beardsley, will assist in user interface design, digital media creation, and Web development. John Balzarini, Media/Distance Technology Engineer will act in the same capacity as Richard Dandridge, providing support for evening and weekend distance learning courses as necessary. Ashley Bond, Media Developer, Ashley Bond’s skill set includes developing media rich (video, audio, Flash) educational tools including case based learning tutorials, instructional videos and other interactive learning tools. She is also experienced designing graphic user interfaces, Web sites, print, poster and flyer design as well as assisting with instructional design. Additionally, she helps manage traffic flow of training grant course videos which includes: maintaining/updating video accounts, daily editing of course Web sites, assisting faculty, troubleshooting course video problems including tracking down archived lectures, capturing video, editing, titling of video and videotaping lectures.. Richard Dandridge, Media Development Coordinator has extensive experience in Video Taping and Video Conferencing. Dandridge will participate in planning, execution and evaluation of distance learning initiatives; establish video conferencing; videotapes and duplicates recorded classes, advise faculty as they prepare distance learning materials and strategies to enhance video presentation, establishes, coordinates and troubleshoots connections to remote sites, visits remote sites, maintains and services equipment. Alan Gojdics, Web Curriculum and Multimedia Manager has extensive experience in developing distance learning delivery systems that are grounded in educational principal. Gojdics will work with project faculty to develop Technology Enhanced Distance Learning (TEDL) products (e.g., didactic material, case study exemplars, instructor-mediated dialogs, student/course evaluation products); critically evaluate instruction products; advise on software, legal/copyright issues; participate in planning, execution, evaluation of distance learning initiatives; assist faculty preparing distance learning materials. Aubrey Hale, Web Manager is currently Web Manager with the School of Nursing and leads Educational Innovation’s Web group. Hale maintains the SON presence on the World Wide Web, develops, modifies and supports Course Web sites, and trains faculty, staff and students in technology use. He is skilled in human-computer interaction and computer usability for both ablebodied and disabled computer users. He will strategize and provide technical expertise for distance learning module development and web-based course delivery. David Hughes, Infrastructure Administrator & Software Developer, has extensive experience in information design, infrastructure architecture, software development, business development and project management. Duties: Work with faculty and EI staff to create interactive, accessible, Web-delivered learning modules; develop object-oriented, reusable DL tools and simulation designs. Administer central server infrastructure that supports all EI efforts. Will lead infrastructure management, lead software design, support Web development, lead data architecture, manage virtual collaboration environments, support media delivery, and assist faculty and staff with technology implementation.
Aeden Jameson, Web Information Specialist, has experience collaborating with faculty to determine and map instructional goals and learning outcomes to the appropriate technology. Strong skills in all areas of in the entire lifecycle of educational technology implementation, which include needs analysis, graphic design, Web site design, database design, application development, testing, maintenance, usability evaluation, designing and delivering Web-based testing. He will serve as a resource to students, facilitating and problem-solving access to electronic course materials. Melinda McRae, MA, Web Developer and Training Coordinator, has extensive experience in Web development, training, graphics and design software, content writing and editing, database form development and project management. Duties: Participate in user interface design and implementation of interactive, accessible, Web-delivered learning modules and evaluation tools. Coordinate training for faculty in using course development and delivery tools. Develop training materials. Develop and edit written content including procedures and help instructions. Conduct Web site development process from design to delivery.

He provides guidance to faculty on educational technologies and curricular design, and promotes Informatics within SON. He will provide expertise in graphics, audio, video techniques applicable to the Internet. Hale will work with project faculty to develop Web-Based Instruction (WBI) products for selected curricular elements (e.g., didactic material, case study exemplars, instructor-mediated dialogs, student/course evaluation products); critically evaluate instruction products; advise on software, legal/copyright issues; participate in planning, execution, evaluation of distance learning initiatives; assist faculty preparing distance learning materials. He will serve as resource to students, facilitating and problem-solving access to WBI materials. Cliff Solomon, PhD, Web Information Specialist (15%/6 mo., Y1) has a Doctorate in Education and is experienced in educational systems program development, instructional design, as well as legal and copyright issues. Duties: assist with evaluation tools; work with Project Director, Distance Learning Consultant, and faculty to author Web-based (WB) products for courses (didactic material, case study exemplars, collaborative learning, instructor-mediated dialogs, student and course evaluation products); evaluate instruction products, course impact, and educational effectiveness. Aubrey Hale, Web Manager, (15%/12 mo., Y1) is currently Web Manager with the School of Nursing. Mr. Hale has developed most of the UW Son’s Web site and is skilled at creating dynamic database-generated Web pages. He is expert with electronic media development, including digital videotape production and animation using Macromedia Flash. He is also skilled in human-computer interaction and in computer usability for both able-bodied and disabled computer users. He will be in charge of producing the electronic materials that will be used in the undergraduate classes. He will also assist with the faculty training efforts and will produce the electronic case studies.
