1. Introduction

The purpose of this assessor information is to give as clear guidance as is
possible when approaching the assessment of Criterion Audit as part of the
Workplace Based Assessment (WPBA) Pilot Project. As this assessment is part
of a pilot project, it is accepted that not all eventualities will be covered in this
guidance, and that assessors will have to make professional judgements in their
approach to individual assessments. Each Criterion Audit submitted as part of
this project will be assessed using two different marking schedules – one for
Summative Assessment (2 assessors) and one for WPBA (4 assessors – 2 of
whom will be the assessors who mark the project for Summative Assessment).

Remember, the results of these assessments will not contribute to the final
Summative Assessment process.

As part of the evaluation of the project, assessors will be asked for feedback on
the assessment process.

2. The Practicalities of Assessment

There are 3 possibilities with regard to the practicalities of assessing an audit
project submitted as part of the WPBA pilot :-

i. You will be asked to assess an audit project at the same time as the
     Summative Assessment submission.

ii. You will be asked to assess, in retrospect, a project submitted by a GPR and
previously assessed by you for Summative Assessment.

iii. You will be asked to assess an audit project that has already been assessed
by another assessor for Summative Assessment.

i. Marking the WPBA pilot project at the same time as the Summative
   Assessment submission.

 You will receive an audit project which has been submitted by a GPR for
     Summative Assessment.
 This audit project should be anonymous with regard to the practice and the
     GPR.
 You will receive a Summative Assessment 8-point assessment form.

 You will also receive an assessment form for the Workplace Based
Assessment pilot which contains 6 marking sections.
 You should mark the project in the usual way for Summative Assessment.
This is the only assessment that will count towards the GPR’s formal end of
     year assessment.
 Once the Summative Assessment form has been completed, you should then
re-mark the project using the new Workplace Based Assessment (WPBA)
     tool.
 For the WPBA assessment form, please ensure that the specific WPBA
identification number for the GPR has been entered on the assessment form.
Please also ensure that your assessor number (which can be found on the
front of this assessor information) has been entered on every assessment
     form.
 Please use the space on the WPBA form to add free text – positive and
negative comments. These will be fed back to the GPR and trainer along with
     their cumulative score.
 When you have completed both your assessments, please return both
     assessment forms to:

          Please Insert Your Deanery Address

 Please ensure you have enclosed your WPBA claim form for payment. The
payment for Summative Assessment will be made by you deanery in the
     usual way.

ii. Marking the WPBA pilot project in retrospect, the GPR having already
    completed the Summative Assessment process

 You will receive an audit project which has been submitted by a GPR for
Summative Assessment – this is a project that you will have previously
assessed as part of the Summative Assessment process.
 This audit project should be anonymous with regard to the practice and the
     GPR.
 You will receive an assessment form for the Workplace Based Assessment
pilot which contains 6 marking sections.
 Please ensure that the specific WPBA identification number for the GPR has
been entered on the assessment form. Please also ensure that your
assessor number (which can be found on the front of this assessor
information) has been entered on the assessment form.
 Mark the project using the new Workplace Based Assessment (WPBA) tool.
 Remember, the only result that will count towards the GPR’s formal end of
year assessment is the Summative Assessment one.
