Salem-Keizer Mentor Program Agreement The Salem-Keizer mentor program has as its primary goal the success of beginning teachers and the positive impact that makes on both student learning and in the learning community at every school. We have a shared interest in these goals and to that end, we welcome the challenge of participating in this program and commit to the following agreements: Beginning Teacher I agree:        to play an active role in the mentoring relationship, seeking guidance and support while continuing to add to my knowledge and skills as a teacher; to maintain confidentiality in the mentoring relationship; to participate in all orientation, professional development, and monthly support activities; to meet with my mentor on a weekly basis—schedule to be determined between my mentor and myself; to complete the monthly meeting log/reflection and return to the program coordinator; to share ideas and practices with my colleagues; to participate in the program evaluation process. X________________________________________ Date__________________ Mentor Teacher I agree:  to actively support, coach, and guide my protégé in becoming an effective and reflective practitioner;  to maintain a confidential and productive relationship;  to participate in all mentor training and monthly support activities;  to meet with my protégé on a weekly basis—schedule to be determined between my protégé and myself;  to complete the monthly meeting log/reflection and return to the program coordinator;  to demonstrate exemplary teaching ability as indicated by effective communication skills, subject matter knowledge, mastery of a range of teaching strategies, and other special skills and abilities;  to introduce my protégé to other colleagues and resources that can provide support;  to model lessons and teaching strategies by inviting my protégé into my classroom, or assisting my protégé in observing other master teachers;  to participate in the program evaluation process.
