About this directory
This directory has been compiled by the Victorian Alcohol and Drug
Association (VAADA) at the request of the Southern Metropolitan
Region of the Department of Human Services (DHS). It contains
information about drug and alcohol services currently available in the
Southern Metropolitan Region (SMR). These services range from
counselling services to needle and syringe programs to health services.

The directory was developed as a referral tool for alcohol and drug
clinicians, general practitioners, nurses, social workers, welfare
officers, youth workers and other allied health and welfare workers who
are in a primary contact role with clients affected by alcohol and drug
use problems.

Information provided about services includes contact details, how to
access services, service philosophies and a range of other information
needed for effective referral.

Indexes to this directory are arranged as follows:

   • Alphabetical by service name/program name
   • Alphabetical by suburb (note though that many services cover a
wider geographical area than the suburb in which they are
       based)
   • Alphabetical by service type
   • Alphabetical by client type

Information in this directory has been checked with services and was
up to date at the time of printing.

Melbourne. Case Management co-ordination is provided from the Visy Cares Centre. The
program provides youth withdrawal, respite and intensive support services accommodating
six young people between the ages of 12 - 21 years. The program operates on a 24 hour
basis from the residence.

The multidisciplinary team works from a psychosocial framework, which involves an
integrated approach with clinical services, various community agencies, families and
significant others. The team is also committed to promoting and increasing awareness of
problematic substance use issues as they affect the wider community. The program
operates within a shared-care model which involves local general medical practitioners
and specialist alternative therapy clinicians.

Methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone are not dispensed by the Drug Withdrawal Unit,

general practitioners.

Philosophy

WYCH services are based on an ethos of flexibility, firmness, fairness and fun and aims to
support the young person and respond to their varying developmental needs. Our services
