TRANSFER ARTICULATION AGREEMENT between DOMINICAN COLLEGE and WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE General Stipulations Westchester Community College students who graduate with an A.A., A.A.S. or A.S. degree in specified programs and with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 will be granted "junior" or upper-level status at Dominican College. Certain programs within the College have higher GPA and further admissions standards, as specified in the Dominican College catalogue. Upon transferring into Dominican College, qualified Westchester graduates will be awarded up to a maximum of 70 credits earned at Westchester as applicable to specified programs and/or institutional requirements at Dominican College. For Westchester graduates with an associate’s degree, courses for transfer must have been passed with a grade of "C-" or better. Courses transferred will receive full credit as awarded by Westchester even if the equivalent Dominican course award is a different number of credits. Students who have determined their future major, should consult the Dominican major sheets to guide their choice of electives if they wish to apply them to the major. In checking the major sheets, they should note that each major determines: How many courses toward the major must be taken at Dominican. Whether or not courses in which a grade below C will apply to the major. Courses not accepted by the major will apply to elective credit toward graduation. Each transferring student will be assigned a program faculty advisor, who will assist the student in charting a comprehensive academic program plan allowing for graduation in the shortest time possible, usually two years of full-time study or its part-time equivalent. Students who transfer from Westchester to Dominican are expected to adhere to general academic policies and procedures required for admission to the College, and to fulfill any particular requirements (regarding GPA, prerequisites, clinical experience, etc.) that may be in place for certain academic programs at the College. The Dominican College catalogue and, in some cases, program-specific student manuals, specify in detail all relevant policies and procedures. Students will not be expected to meet adjusted requirements, if they differ from those as stated in these publications upon the students' matriculation at Dominican College.
Specific Stipulations All transfer students will need to satisfy Dominican’s General Education Curriculum requirements, which include components in (I) General Skills, (II) Roots of Contemporary Life and Culture, (IIIA) Science, and (IIIB) Values. These requirements, and the Westchester
courses that may be used to meet them, are outlined on the attached pages. Note: all transfer students are required to complete an English Competency exam regardless of the number of Writing courses completed at Westchester or elsewhere. Students not successful on the exam are provided additional support at Dominican through the required course EN115, Advanced Writing. Both Westchester Community College and Dominican College agree to keep each other informed of program changes in a timely way. Program Specifics This agreement includes parallel programs in Liberal Arts, Business & Computer Science, Public Service and Allied Health: Transfer students seeking degrees in the specific Dominican programs covered by this agreement will need to meet the requirements outlined for the programs. The included programs follow. Click on the Program link to view/download the requirements document as a PDF file.
