TALENT ID PROGRAM

SUMMARY

The aim of the Queensland Athletics Talent ID Program is to provide assistance to athletes who
have been identified as having the potential to progress to the Athletics Australia (AA) National
Development Squads. The Program aims to provide athletes with opportunities to increase their
performance and develop their skills and strengths as an athlete.

ENTRY INTO THE TID PROGRAM

Entry into the Talent ID Program is through invitation only. There are no set standards for
athletes to achieve in order to gain automatic entry. Athletes will be selected at the sole
discretion of Queensland Athletics and its team of advisers. Invitations will be extended to
athletes based on the following:

   1. Performance (not results) from the previous year’s National All Schools Championships

   2. Performance (not results) from the QLD State Championships

   3. Natural talent as identified by the selector

   4. Natural body composition

   5. The athlete’s history (including coaching and medical history)

TID AGE CATEGORIES

The following 3 age categories will be used for the purpose of selections, however once
selected all athletes will participate in the program jointly regardless of age.

   1. Under 17’s

   2. Under 19’s

   3. Under 23’s

COST AND BENEFITS OF THE TID PROGRAM

Queensland Athletics will subsidise the main costs of this program, however in order to fully
support the athletes and their coaches there will be a $200 registration fee per athlete.

Athletes who accept their invitation to join the TID Program will receive the following:

   1. TID polo shirt for them and their coach (valued at $40 each)

   2. Medical screening and report (valued at $60)

   3. Physiotherapy screening and report (valued at $60)

   4. Video Analysis and report (valued at $80)

   5. Strength and conditioning screening and report (valued at $60)

   6. Nutrition screening and report (valued at $60)

   7. Sports Psychology screening and report (valued at $60)

   8. Self Massage tutorial (valued at $60)

   9. ASADA drug testing information session (valued at $40)

   10. TID Squad Day Camp

   11. Tour Invitations (these will be user pays, however QA will cover the administration and
       management fee for all TID members, a cost of approx $100 per tour)

   12. ½ price off all Brisbane based QA level 1 or 2 coaching courses (valued at approx $160
       for the level 1 and $80 for the level 2)

   13. QA will cover the cost of up to 3 events in your appropriate age category at the 2010
       QLD State Championships (valued at $10 per event)

REQUIREMENTS OF ATHLETES WHO ENTER THE TID PROGRAM

Athletes who accept their invitation to be a part of the TID Program will be required to do the
following:

   1. Keep the QA State Performance Coordinator (SPC) updated on their progress, including
      injuries, results and competition schedules. The SPC will contact you fortnightly.

   2. Remain a member of QA for the duration of the TID Program.

   3. Athletes must compete in the 2010 QLD State Championships unless prior exemption is
      sought from the SPC.

TID PROGRAM CALENDAR

Jan 31 – Feb 1       QLD U’16 & U’20 State Champs (performances from these champs will be taken into account when
                     selecting the 2009 TID Squad)

February 20 – 22     QLD Open & U’18 State Champs (performances from these champs will be taken into account when
                     selecting the 2009 TID Squad)

April                Invitations will be sent out to athletes to join the 2009 TID Program

April                Acceptance letter and squad payment is due back to QA

April 18 – 19        Level 1 Coaching Course (TID athletes are encourage to complete the level 1 course, QA will
                     provide TID athletes with a 50% discount on the course fees)

May 23 – May 24      Level 2 Coaching Course (TID athletes are encouraged to complete the level 2 course, QA will
                     provide TID athletes with a 50% discount on the course fees)

June                 Medical screenings

August               TID Squad Day Camp

October 2 – 4        TID Squad Trip – ANQ Championships

October 10 – 11      Level 1 Coaching Course (TID athletes are encourage to complete the level 1 course, QA will
                     provide TID athletes with a 50% discount on the course fees)

October 17 – 18      Level 2 Coaching Course (TID athletes are encouraged to complete the level 2 course, QA will
                     provide TID athletes with a 50% discount on the course fees)

October 22 – 25      State All Schools Champs (All eligible TID athletes are encouraged to compete)

December             National All Schools Champs (All eligible TID athletes are encouraged to compete. Performances
                     from these champs will also be taken into account when considering the 2010 TID selections)

February 2010        QLD State Championships (All TID athletes MUST compete in their appropriate age group for the
                     State Championships unless prior exemption is sought from the SPC. QA will pay for up to 3 events
                     for all TID athletes)

February 2010        TID Squad Trip – NSW State Championships

March 2010           TID Squad Trip – New Zealand National Championships

March / April 2010   National Championships (All eligible TID athletes are encouraged to compete)
