Dear Mr. Ballentyne:
This letter is to inform you, in accordance with Chapter 7 1/3 – Community
Redevelopment Agency, Code of Laws and Ordinances of Martin County and
the Community Redevelopment Act of 1969, Sections 163.346, Florida
Statutes; that the Board of County Commissioners will consider adoption of
modifications of all seven Community Redevelopment Plans of the Martin
County Redevelopment Agency: Jensen Beach, Rio, Old Palm City, Hobe
Sound, Golden Gate, Port Salerno and Indiantown. There will be two Public
Hearings, one on October 16, 2008, at 7 p.m. or soon thereafter, for a
recommendation by the Local Planning Agency and one for consideration of
final adoption by the Board of County Commissioners on October 28, 2008, at
9 a.m. or soon thereafter. Both meetings will be held in the Commission
Chambers located on the first floor of the Martin County Administrative
Center located at 2401 S.E. Monterey Road, Stuart, Florida.
Specifically, the proposed changes reflect direction of the Community
Redevelopment Agency to include language in each plan which clarifies that
Tax Increment Financing (TIF) will be a funding source of both CRA Projects
and their maintenance when other funding sources are not available.
Further, the CRA directed staff to include the Community Message Sign as a
project in the Indiantown plan.
