acute care hospital located in beautiful South Lake Tahoe. Since the inception of the hospital in
1963, Barton Memorial Hospital has been fully accredited by the Joint Commission on

What We Do:
CLINICAL LAB SCIENTIST

The technologist performs testing in their assigned areas and is licensed to provide the following
services; chemical, microscopic, microbiological, blood bank, hematological and serological test
to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Responsible for the accurate
examination and analysis of the testing they perform or oversee. This involves constant
monitoring of quality control procedures, equipment maintenance, controlling specimen
collection techniques and consultation with other laboratory staff. Maintains proficiency in the
collection of venous and arterial blood gas phlebotomy procedures. Responsible for the routine
operation equipment and instrumentation to include validating the performance of equipment
through the use of control material, calibrators and performance verifiers. Reviews and is
actively involved in quality control performance and corrective action. The Clinical Scientist is
under the supervision of the Chief Technologist and reports to the Director of Laboratory and

assumes leadership responsibilities in their absence.
Requires a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or temporary CLS License, Nevada
Medical Technologist license or Nevada General Supervisor, Medical Technologist license or
must have passed National exam (ASCP, NCA or AMT) and be able to obtain the
aforementioned Nevada licensure prior to start date. Bachelors of Science Degree in Medical
Technology or related field with previous experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in a
hospital or similar institution.


CLINICAL PHARMACIST

Participates in all aspects of hospital pharmacy services: Operations and Distribution, Clinical
Pharmacy, and Outpatient Infusion Services. Ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal clinical
services on a daily basis, promoting desirable patient outcomes through safe and cost effective
drug therapies. Establishes and maintains productive collaborative relationships with
practitioners and hospital staff. Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs and
other pharmaceutical for patient care. Responsible for distribution of drugs to inpatients,
outpatients, and clinics. Supervises and directs pharmacy support personnel. Verifies the daily
activities of the pharmacy technicians. As part of the interdisciplinary care team, provides quality
and cost effective services to patients, employees and medical staff. Monitors drug therapy of
patients for appropriateness of drug and dose, drug interactions, contraindications, and adverse
reactions. Provides pharmacokinetic consults and renal drug dosing adjustments per hospital
protocols. Performs IV-to-PO automatic dosing changes and therapeutic substitutions. Provides
clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Participates in clinical “rounds” with
nursing and medical staffs and clinical collaboration meeting. Participates in drug use
evaluations and evaluation of new drugs for formulary addition. Provides home infusion services
as well. The Clinical Pharmacist is under the supervision of and reports to the Director of
Pharmacy.
Requires a Current California Registered Pharmacist license and a current CPR/BLS certification
by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to
start date.
Must have a Bachelors Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy plus Hospital Pharmacy
Residency or equivalent clinical pharmacy experience. PharmD, with clinical focus, or Masters
Degree in Pharmacy, with emphasis on hospital practice with optional Hospital Pharmacy
Residency (preferred) or equivalent clinical pharmacy experience. A minimum of 3 recent years
exp as a Staff Pharmacist in a hospital or healthcare setting.

DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL IMAGING

As a Radiology Technologist - Performs diagnostic medical radiographic services utilizing
established policies and procedures and ARRT & CRT standards ensuring optimal diagnostic
quality. Maintains equipment and supplies utilized in the provision of services.
As Director of Medical Imaging - Provides leadership and supervision to all staff. Coordinates
department activities, ensuring safety of patients and staff. Directs all human resource functions
of the department and oversees training and ensures staff competencies. Develops and ma nages

budget to meet department, organizational and patient safety goals and ensures Regulatory
Compliance. Ongoing monitoring of departmental indicators and PI activities; reports activities
as directed. Responds to the needs of the department by performing radiology technician duties
when needed. The Director of Medical Imaging reports to the Vice President of Hospital
Operations.
Requires current ARRT, CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the
Healthcare Provider) and California CRT license or ability to obtain prior to start date. An
Associates Degree, Graduate of an AMA accredited program in Radiological technology, and a
Bachelors Degree preferred.
Specialized training in Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound Technology preferred with a minimum
of 5 years of diagnostic imaging experience. Previous administrative/supervisory experience in a
medial imaging department helpful. Experience in electronic spreadsheets, word processing and
report writing.
General knowledge of Human Resource functions including labor laws, recruitment and
retention practices and organizational development.

MEDICAL RECORDS CODER

Codes medical records using ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding. Ensures accurate submission of all
coding data for reimbursement purposes. Ensures Regulatory Compliance – follows all Federal
regulations for payment systems and ambulatory payment systems. The Coder II reports to the
Lead Coder.
Requires CCS or CPC Certification, CPC-H also accepted with 2 years of Inpatient and
Outpatient coding experience. Completion of RHIT or RHIA preferred. A minimum of three
years recent experience with in-patient and outpatient coding in an acute facility. Knowledge
and application of CPT-4 coding. An understanding of disease processes. Knowledge of APCs,
DRGs and other payment systems.

HOME HEALTH PHYSICAL THERAPIST

Provides physical therapy services to patients enrolled in home health programs, utilizing
established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care. Assesses, plans,
implements and evaluates care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to identify and meet the individualized needs of
all patients served. The Home Health Staff Physical Therapist reports to the Home Health
Rehabilitation Services Supervisor.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree, Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy or graduate
of accredited college or university with a certificate in physical therapy. 2 years experience as a
physical therapist with current CA & NV physical therapy license and CPR Certification or
ability to obtain prior to start date.

OR NURSE
Provides professional nursing care to patients in the operating room, utilizing established policies
and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care
in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill

necessary to identify and meet the individualized needs of all patients served in the operating
room. Performs scrub nurse duties at a basic level for each surgical specialty. Functions as a
circulating nurse, assisting the surgical team during procedures, accurately and according to
policy, performs surgical counts with scrub personnel. Prepares the OR for cases, assists in room
turnover. The Operating Room Nurse reports to the Surgery Center Administrator.
Requires a current Nevada RN license and CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart
Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date. An ACLS
certification prior to hire or must enroll and complete the first available Barton University
course, CNOR preferred. Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program with previous OR
experience required.

SURGICAL/SCRUB TECHNICIAN
Performs a variety of duties associated with the provision of surgical procedures, utilizing sound
aseptic technique and established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care.
Performs surgical technician duties functioning at all levels of each surgical specialty and
prepares the OR for cases, assists in room turnover and end of day room detailing. Takes an
active role in shared governance. The Surgical Technician is under the supervision of the Unit
Leader and reports to the Director of Surgical Services.
Requires a current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for
the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date. Completion of an accredited
Surgical Technician program with a minimum of six months previous OR experience. Previous
experience in stocking and housekeeping in a hospital setting preferred.
