Hair loss can have many causes like hormonal changes, illness, inherited male pattern baldness,
stress, skin infections, drugs etc.

If you loose between 50-100 hairs per day it's normal. If you experience more shedding then you might
have a hair loss problem, especially when your hair comes out in clumps or when you see bald
patches on your scalp.

There are various natural hair loss treatments which can help. First of all you should reduce stress and
live healthy. It's important that your body has enough vitamins and minerals all time, especially when
you do hard physical work, suffer from stress every day or when you do a diet for loosing weight.

Applying naturopathy can produce good results. Apply a daily massage to your scalp which increases
the blood flow to your hair follicles and removes toxins and reduces stress. Your hair follicles need
certain nutrients to produce healthy hair. The lack of these ingredients can lead to hair loss and hair
breakage. Take B-Vitamins, Magnesium and Zinc. Eat fish, wholegrain nuts, seeds, olives and
avocados to get fatty acids.

Saw palmetto is a well known hair loss treatment. It was long used by native Americans to increase the
libido. It helps blocking DHT in men which is the main cause for hair loss in men. Saw Palmetto can be
used instead of Propecia, a very effective drug.

Ayurveda oils and homeopathy have shown some positive effects as well. Scottish dermatologists
have shown that Aromatherapy is another natural way to fight hair loss. Several essential oils like
rosemary, cedar wood, thyme and lavender massaged into the scalp for at least two minutes can make
hair healthier. Wrap a warm towel around your head after the massage. Use it at night. Rosemary oil is
good for cleansing the scalp and can stimulate the hair roots.

Some report good results taking brewer's yeast tablets. It's different to baker's yeast. Also taking
flaxseed oil is good for the hair.

Nettles contain much silica, vitamin C and A, minerals and lipids. Nettles were used by native

Aloe vera was always effectively used for skin diseases. You can get shampoos which contain aloe

Traditional chinese medicine uses bee pollen and ginkgo biloba to stimulate hair growth and increase

Do Natural Hair Loss Remedies Have Any Real Relevance?
 by: Richard Mitchell

The effectiveness of modern hair loss treatments is clear for all to see, but many people simply prefer
not to use strong chemicals or non-natural substances.

If you fall into this category, does this mean you'll just have to accept an ever-decreasing head of hair?
The answer to this is an unequivocal NO!

Many natural hair loss remedies, both traditional and contemporary, have shown their worth in
reducing and reversing hair loss. They are also perceived as being free from side effects and even
deliver additional health benefits.

Why then, don't we hear a lot more about these natural hair loss remedies? Simply because claims of
cures cannot be made without FDA approval, and obtaining the FDA seal of approval involves lengthy
and expensive scientific research that only major companies can afford. Even the biggest companies
could not recoup the costs of such a process as no-one can control the rights to common natural
substances such as basic foods and vitamins.

The big question however is, do natural hair loss remedies work? Firstly, hair growth at root level is a
living part of the body that depends on sound nutrition, just like any other part of the body. The
importance of vitamins, minerals and other nutritional elements in maintaining healthy hair cannot be

Secondly, the role of herbs and plants in treating numerous ailments is receiving increased recognition
after years of neglect, and hair loss is no exception. Many herbal remedies for both internal and
external use are offering new hope to people suffering from premature hair loss.

Thirdly, traditional hair loss remedies may still have something to offer. Ancient literature and folklore
reveal that our ancestors went to great lengths to treat thinning hair. Some of the more acceptable
traditional approaches are now being incorporated into many potential treatment regimes.

Other articles in this series tackle each of these areas in much more detail but you can find out more
