Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Well I’m told that the ladies’ trip to Madison last weekend was a huge success. That’s hard to
imagine without us guys there! (I’m kidding of course) I have yet to see a picture or I would
have included one. It makes me want to take a guys’ trip, but I haven’t worked up the courage
yet to ask the women’s ministry team to plan that for us.

Courage is something I have been struggling with this week in my own personal life. I don’t so
much have a problem laying down issues and trusting the Lord to handle them instead of
worrying about them. But there are times that we must be courageous and take out our weapons
to fight while trusting the Lord will bring us to victory. The history of Israel is flooded with
examples of a people who were guaranteed victory, but they still had to muster the courage to
walk the land. Before crossing the Jordan River into the promise land the Israelites were given
these words,

Hear, O Israel. You are now about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations
greater and stronger than you, with large cities that have walls up to the sky. The people
are strong and tall—Anakites! You know about them and have heard it said: "Who can
stand up against the Anakites?" But be assured today that the LORD your God is the one
who goes across ahead of you like a devouring fire. He will destroy them; he will subdue
them before you. And you will drive them out and annihilate them quickly, as the LORD
       has promised you. (Deut 9:1-3)

WOW! What a strong, confident assurance from God! But still, I imagine the men were scared as
they crossed.

So I am reminded of our VBS this summer (I hope the kids & other adults there remember this
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD
your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. (Deut 31:6)

Please be in prayer for our grandson, Landon, on Friday afternoon.

A text for Sunday’s message is 2 Corinthians 6:14-16

For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can
light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a
believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the
        temple of God and idols?
I guess technically you could say the message will be about “Nothing.”

Have a great weekend – Looking forward to seeing you Sunday!
