Policy Statement:

A.     It is policy of Hernando County to observe certain holidays throughout the year. The
       holiday schedule is approved by the Board of County Commissioners at the beginning of
       each year.

B.     The following are official holidays which will be observed by all departments functioning
       under the Board of County Commissioners in which functions can be discontinued
       without adversely affecting required services to the public:

                 New Year's Day (January 1)
                 Martin Luther King, Jr Day (3rd Monday in January)
                 President’s Day
                 Good Friday
                 Memorial Day
                 Independence Day (July 4)
                 Labor Day (1st Monday in September)
                 Veteran's Day (November 11)
                 Thanksgiving Day (4th Thursday in November)
                 Day after Thanksgiving Day (Friday after Thanksgiving)
                 Christmas Eve Day (December 24)
                 Christmas Day (December 25)

C.     Holidays falling on Saturday will be observed on the Friday preceding the holiday and
       those falling on Sunday will be observed on the Monday following the holiday. If an
       employee is normally scheduled to work Saturday and/or Sunday, the holiday will be
       observed on the day of the occurrence.

D.     Seasonal and temporary employees will not be entitled to holiday pay.
