Well its very definitely springtime, and for those who have not been out to the
club grounds yet its well into club uniform temperatures.
Saturdays working bee saw a good turnout, and the crew achieved a lot. Our bush walks down to
the river have been well trimmed and cleared, the clubhouse decks water-blasted so they are not
as slippery as they were and the dreadful grey colour has been freshened up, the clubhouse roof
was sprayed with bleach to get rid of the lichen and there was time before the rain hit to get at least
some of that water-blasted while it was safe to walk up there. Bleach and water make roofing iron
just too slippery for words and we don’t need any accidents so that will wait for another opportunity.
Trees were trimmed, shrubs pruned, windows cleaned and lots of other jobs done. The place is
ready for the season! Thank you everybody who were there.
A small job was completed last month, the flashing surrounding the fireplace chimney inside has
been made and fitted. By my calculation this was the last job needed to complete the clubhouse.
While a small thing, this is very significant, yes we have maintenance to do, yes there are some
alterations planned, but this is the last job that was part of the original plan. Its done!
Congratulations to those who had the vision to begin the clubhouse build, congratulations to all
those who have worked on it or contributed in other ways, congratulations to all involved. It’s done,
11 years, but it’s done!

Next Event
Due to Go Natural week on October 24th to 1st November, our first BBQ
will be on Wednesday 28th starting at 3pm to coincide with that week. That BBQ will be a Textile
one as we will be using it as a Promotional day and are asking the neighbours, friends and family
to attend. As the weather is still a bit cooler in the evening members shouldn't be put out by the
wearing of clothes. The spa will be hot and no clothes rule applies there. Members are asked to
bring a salad. There will be no event on during the weekend of the 10/11th but will be the BBQ on
the 28th. We will be starting weekly Wednesday BBQ's from 4th November. Please if you are willing
to host one of these BBQ's please contact Christine on 027 631 6883 so that a roster can be put
together. We look forward to a large attendance and don't forget to invite any of your friends who
are interested in the movement to come along and enjoy the evening.
