Materials Needed:
1) 2) 3) 4) notes about Fibonacci Sequence handouts on the application of Fibonacci Sequence internet sites on Golden Ratio Eclipse Java to write computer program

Students will…
1. learn the Fibonacci Sequence of numbers 2. study some the many different applications the Fibonacci Sequence in the following areas: A) Math – greatest common divisor

B) Music – used to help determine tunings C) Art - determine the length or size of content or formal elements D) Nature – tree branches, spirals of shells, pine cones, and pineapples 3. learn what the Golden Ratio is and how to calculate it from Fibonacci Numbers 4. look at examples of the Golden Ratio in the following areas: A) Paintings – Salvador Dali’s The Sacrament of the Last Supper B) Music – math metal bands C) Nature – plants, animals, and crystals D) Math – golden ratio conjugate 5. write a computer program in Java that uses recursion to calculate a the Fibonacci Numbers

Reflection on lesson: Lesson went well. I am always interested to finding new
ways to teach resursion because it is a very tough subject. Students seemed interested in the manu ways that Fibonacci Numbers are used, which brought relevance to the program they wrote. The program itself was a little difficult, but they collorbated together some which helped. All in all, I thought the lesson went well.
