Whereas, in countless ways, American women of every background have
made historic contributions to the establishment, growth and
             perpetuation of our nation; and

Whereas, American women have made valuable contributions to the
health, education and welfare of our nation; and

Whereas, American women served as leaders in every major progressive
social change movement, including the abolitionist movement,
the emancipation movement, the labor movement, the civil rights
movement, the peace movement and the environmental
protection movement, all the while pursuing their own right of
             suffrage and equal opportunity; and

Whereas, the participation of American women in these events has
changed the course of history for the betterment of us all, and is
esteemed and valued by our community.
