MOONIE STATE SCHOOL, WARWICK DISTRICT SCHOOL STRATEGIC PLAN 2010 - 2012
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Moonie State School provides quality education to meet the needs of each learner in a supportive and positive
learning environment, which fosters confidence and a love for learning.
SCHOOL CONTEXT
Learning
Students & Achievements
The school has a current enrolment of 42 students. This figure continues the significant growth (approx 10% pa) that has occurred in recent years. Standards of
behaviour and attendance levels are high. It is important to note that children travel from various parts of the Moonie District to attend Moonie State School.
Learning (Curriculum) Framework
Details on the Learning Framework are listed within the school's Curriculum Plan. This document was first constructed in 2002 and remains a 'living' document that
changes over time in response to identified need, systemic requirements and achievement of stated goals. Most importantly it has been reviewed in consideration
with QCAR (Qld Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting)
School
Learning Environment
The physical environment consists of three main buildings, various outside play areas and a swimming pool. The current facilities are adequate for classroom
programmes with all classrooms cabled for networks. The school maintains high behavioural and academic expectations. Children are grouped into multi-age
classes for most activities.
Community
Our school caters for children from rural properties. The physical spread of enrolments is quite large due to the geographical nature of the area. The community has
a history closely linked with the school and several generations of the same families have been educated at this facility. The school community is supportive of
school and extra curricular activities. Their rate of involvement is high.
Resources
Moonie State School is a well-resourced school comparable with others of its size.
Governance
The school uses consultative forums such as the P&C Association and its sub-committees.
School Workforce
Staff
The staff is an experienced group who have a commitment to both the school and the community. Current 2009 staffing levels are 2.3. This resource is used to
provide the usual classroom services for a school this size including; Music & LOTE.
