Leading Public Sector Thinking and Content
Themes and content for the 2010 Summit are presently being finalised in conjunction with Summit
speakers and presenters. A number of organisational partners will contribute to the Summit as
content advisors. With an overarching focus on building leadership capacity, the 2010 Summit will
cover nine contemporary themes. These content areas will be explored through case studies and
strategies presented by speakers from a range of award-winning public sector organisations and
associated bodies.

This year’s overarching theme will involve an exploration into public sector leadership post-economic
downturn, what important lessons have been learnt and how these learnings can be applied for
maximum benefit as public sector organisations and employees move past the worst effects of 2009.

Summit Presenters: Australia’s Most Respected Leadership Experts
The 2010 Summit will showcase some of Australia’s most respected and celebrated public sector
leaders and their organisations. The Summit comprises a powerful line-up of public sector leaders, HR
professionals, leadership experts and high profile figures. Speakers typically represent a broad cross-
section of public sector organisations and associated groups.

In 2009 outstanding keynote presentations from leadership luminaries such as Simon Illingworth,
Director Ethical Strength; John Taya, Executive GM HR, Main Roads WA; and Janine Kirk AM, Partner,
Ernst & Young, reinforced the quality of the event and integrity of the information delivered. The
Summit organising committee is currently in the process of confirming the 2010 Summit speakers.

Summit Audience
Based on the inaugural 2009 Summit, approximately 150–200 public sector people managers will be
in attendance. Delegates will be invited from all levels of management and from all Australian states
and territories. The Australian Public Sector Leadership Summit 2009 was attended by 165 Australian
public sector leaders. Attendees represented local, state and federal government sectors across a
range of industries. 74% of delegates were from metropolitan areas, and almost one-third were from
Victoria. Delegates represented a broad cross-section of public sector levels.
