Public relations and communication
During the year, CO2CRC was involved in numerous activities which gave it a high profile with governments, industry
and, to a lesser extent, with the public at large. The Centre was launched by Minister McGauran at a function held at
the Academy of Science, and attended by Centre participants and invited guests from government and industry.

The Centre was centrally involved in the very successful staging of a meeting of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change, held in Canberra in December 2003, which was attended by an international audience of almost 90. The meeting
was preceded by a CO2 Capture and Storage Down-under Day, organised by CO2CRC, to showcase local activity in
this field. Centre staff, as well as representatives of companies that are Centre participants, gave presentations.

In February 2004, the Centre took a leading role in the International Energy Agency's ZETs (Zero Emissions
Technologies) Conference on the Gold Coast. It organised two workshops, presented papers, helped to prepare a DVD
on Zero Emissions Technologies, and prepared a Technology Roadmap for CO2 Capture and Storage Research and
Development in Australia. The last was launched at the Conference by the Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources.

The Centre has also presented information on CO2 capture and storage and promoted the Centre's activities through
papers, posters and display booths at several conferences.

The Centre has launched a website that provides a wealth of information about the Centre, its programs, people and
publications. The ZETs video can be accessed from the website.

The Centre placed a number of articles in the Australian press and contributed some letters to the editor when
clarification was needed about reported statements on geological sequestration.

The CO2CRC appointed a full-time communication manager in June 2004. In addition to extensive stakeholder liaison,
major tasks over the coming financial year include the drafting and implementation of public consultation plans and an
overarching communication strategy for CO2CRC.
