MARTINEZ, DIRECTOR, CID DATE: August 1, 2003 This Bulletin announces Construction Industries Division (CID) changes in the procedures for issuing LP Gas, Electrical, Mechanical, and General Building permits. CID has acquired a computer based permit tracking system that will generate and track all activity associated with these permits. This new procedure will be adjusted as CID moves through the process of developing and implementing the new permit system. This Bulletin provides information on some of the procedures that will be followed as we move into the transition phase of this process. Additional Bulletins will be issued as needed to clarify or adjust these procedures. CID asks for and greatly appreciates your patience and cooperation during this time. Please contact our offices in Santa Fe (827- 7030), in Albuquerque (841-8020), or in Las Cruces (524-6320) if you have questions or need assistance with any of these procedures. Thank you. ♦ On Monday, October 6, 2003, CID will begin issuing computer-generated permits. o Permits will be issued on a per job basis only o Payment will be required before a permit is issued. Acceptable methods of payment are: Cash or check mailed or presented at any CID office Bulletin 02-03 Page 2 of 2 Credit card payments if permit is issued over the internet (effective October 6, 2003) CID Pre-paid Permit Fee Account (available September 22, 2003) o Permits will no longer be issued in blank or in batches ♦ Beginning on Friday, August 1, 2003, Electrical and Mechanical permits will reflect the new fees. o Permits issued between August 1, 2003 and October 5, 2003: will be processed under the current procedure only until October 5, 2003 will show the new fees will not be valid after October 5, 2003, unless the job has been started and the inspections process is underway prior to October 5, 2003. will not be issued in batches of more than 5 at a time o Permits issued before August 1, 2003: will be subject to the new fees unless the job has been started and the inspections process is underway prior to August 1, 2003. will not be valid after October 5, 2003, unless the job has been started and the inspections process is underway before October 5, 2003. o Permits issued after October 5, 2003: will be subject to the new fees the fee must be paid at the time of issuance will not be issued in blank or in batches ♦ LP Gas Permits o LP Gas permits that have been purchased prior to October 5, 2003, will be valid only until December 31, 2003. After December 31, 2003, such permits may be presented at any CID office for exchange. Upon presentation, the permit will either be replaced with a new, valid computer-generated permit or may be used to establish, or may be deposited in, a licensee credit account. o LP Gas permits that have been purchased prior to August 1, 2003, will not be subject to the new fee increases. o Requests by mail: If the request or check is dated prior to August 1, 2003, the permit(s) will be issued pursuant to the old fee amounts. If the request or check is dated after August 1, 2003, the permit(s) will be issued pursuant to the new fee amounts. NOTE: If a request for permits is accompanied by payment that is insufficient, the permits will be issued with a BALANCE DUE notification and the amount due MUST BE PAID BEFORE ANY ADDITIONAL PERMITS WILL BE ISSUED TO THE LICENSEE. o Effective August 1, 2003, the following LP Gas activities will require a permit: Propane installations at special events such as state and county fairs, rodeos, Balloon Fiesta, Santa Fe Fiesta and all similar events. Propane cylinder exchange installations.
