Editor’s Note

This is the last E-bulletin I will edit. I’d like to offer my thanks to SCGLPM. I have enjoyed editing something I

was a part of from the beginning, a weekly statewide news email bulletin for SC GLBT citizens. I appreciate all

the groups and individuals who sent me notices/alerts. You can send your messages directly to

SCGLPMBulletin@yahoogroups.com and the new editor will receive your information. The new editor may

change things, so stay tuned…..

Living the Questions

Think "Christian" and the words "judgmental," "hypocritical," and "anti-homosexual" may be the first thoughts that pop into

your mind. That's the most popular descriptions given by those recently polled by the Barna Group. Those followers of

Christ who understand his message was one of grace and radical love for everyone often feel alone and hopeless.

Beginning February 1 from 7-9 p.m. at Garden of Grace UCC at 1020 Atlas Road, join us on a 21-week long spiritual

journey to reclaim our faith and our hope. "Living the Questions" provides a context where people can ask the questions

they've always wanted to ask without the fear of being called a heretic – or worse. Each first and third Friday from 7 p.m. –

9 p.m. we'll hear from some of the world's leading theologians like Marcus Borg, Mel White, John Dominic Crossan,

Yvette Flunder and many more on topics like the Bible, Jesus, evil and suffering, prayer and social justice.

If you've walked away from the church because you felt rejected or judged, or because you felt that you couldn't ask

serious questions, this series can renew your spirit. If you don't like church, you'll love "Living the Questions." A light

meal will be served at each session. Donations to defray the cost of meals will be gladly accepted, but are not

necessary. The sessions are free and open to all. Come and enjoy the food, the fellowship and the fun. For more

information, contact Rev. Candace Chellew-Hodge at revcandace@gogucc.com or by phone at 803-491-5116.

Examining the issues of sexual orientation

and gender identity within the biblical communities.

A discussion for clergy, lay leaders, scripture students

Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, straight: words that are used to identify a person's sexual identity are discussed and

examined everywhere from Oprah to the halls of Congress, but not often (enough) by biblical scholars and theologians.

Where does our growing awareness of the human person and a biblical theology intersect?

The winter issue of the Biblical Theology Bulletin presented several articles for our discussion. You can read David

Bossman's introduction: Presenting the Issue here.

We still have several copies of the Bulletin at the AFFA office. If you did not receive a copy and would like to participate in

this discussion, contact the AFFA office at 843-883-0343 or wredman-gress@affa-sc.org

We will meet on Monday February 4th from 10 - noon at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 1293 Orange Grove Rd

- Charleston, SC 29407. Monty Knight will be our host.

RSVP wredman-gress@affa-sc.org

If you have particular questions you would like David to address, please forward them to: wredman-gress@affa-sc.org .

Submission Guidelines

The SCGLPM E-Bulletin is scheduled to be distributed on Wednesday mornings.

All materials to be posted in the E-Bulletin must be sent to SCGLPMBulletin@yahoogroups.com or

PeaceLvr1963@Yahoo.com by Monday night. Not all email servers are the same and delay in sending your

message may cause delay in posting it in the E-Bulletin. Announcements and articles received after the

deadline will be published in the next edition, if the article or event is still timely.

To submit events, meetings or announcements, follow this format:

What is the name of the event?

When is it happening? (date, time and duration)

Who (group’s name) is putting on the event?

Where will it be held? (location)

Why is it happening? (fundraising, raise awareness)

Brevity is key to having people read about your activity and them showing up. Lengthy emails may be edited.

Providing this information will aid your group in attendance at the event. The person sending the email should

provide a contact if further information is requested. Let me know if contact information is to be published with

the email or not.

Thanks for your assistance,

Beth
