Report of Weekly Coordinator’s Meeting 1/31/06 Department of Curriculum and instruction Present: J. Myers, D. Harkins, J. Ponder, T. Ogletree Announcements Dr. Reddish’s classes are covered by Drs. Duplechain and Harkins. Dr. John Payne being hired to cover supervision. Dean has announced that there may be more travel money available. Searches ECED two generalists positions – bringing in three candidates in February and early March. ECED science position has two candidates to be brought in. MGED is bringing in two, maybe three candidates. There are two positions open there. Strategic Planning Committees – planning for the future A list of committees was distributed. A meeting has been set for February16, 2006 at 10:00 am for the committees to work. InTech/Foliotek Meeting on InTech to be held by the Dean on Thursday at 3 in Room 5. Foliotek – we need training before we can go any further. What about students? In what course are they to receive training? Not everyone takes MEDT 2401. Faculty need hands on training. MGED-SEED Searches scheduled for February 10 and February 20. Meeting to discuss Foliotek on Wednesday, February 8, 2006. READ Planning work day on EdS proposal. Georgia Highlands 55 have expressed interest to begin program in the fall. Need to find adjuncts, as always. ECED Program in Newnan has become a political football. It seems everyone wants one but not everyone understands what kind of planning is necessary and what kind of personnel would be needed. Apparently Rob Tourneau will act as director. New program has 129 hours. Child Development Center Update Preliminary investigation by a person from the state went well. She is coming back later in the spring. Program looks good.
