TERROR TRENDS BULLETIN 21 July 2006 ISRAEL TAKES ON HEZBOLLAH... Lost in all the hand-wringing over Israel's campaign against Hezbollah, is the fact that Hezbollah started all this with a clearly pre-planned and coordinated attack on Israeli soldiers inside Israeli territory, followed up by an indiscriminant rocket bombardment of Israeli cities and towns. It's useful to keep that in mind when you're watching CNN's Nic Robertson getting a guided tour from the Jihadist terrorists of Hezbollah showing alleged collateral damage inflicted by Israeli air strikes... The Center for Security Policy's scholars have summed up the current situation and how we got here nicely in a report entitled "No Territory for Terrorists:" http://www.centerforsecuritypolicy.org/index.jsp?section=papers&code=06 -D_35 An Iranian opposition group has surfaced in America with some interesting things to say about the current situation, as this World Tribune article explains... http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/06/front2453936.1479166667.htm l DIVEST TERROR UPDATE: MISSOURI TAKES THE LEAD There was big news recently for the Divest Terror Initiative. The state of Missouri has moved forward and has now taken a leadership role by establishing a terror-free investment portfolio. No longer can money managers and pension directors claim that divestment cannot be done. It has been done! While Jihadists from Iran and Syria fight US troops in Iraq, Sudan commits genocide against Black Christians, and North Korea sells missiles to the Ayatollahs, it makes no sense for US investors to be unwittingly aiding those countries through their investments. Missouri State Treasurer Sarah Steelman recognizes this and has taken action in her own state to stop it. We applaud her courageous efforts... http://www.treasurer.missouri.gov/pressroom/MITFund.html ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ••••••••••••••••• NEWS ABOUT AL QAIDA: AL QAIDA IN AMERICA It's a shame that so many people are completely oblivious to the Jihadist terrorist threat here in this country, but the next two stories should serve as a re-wake up call to those Americans who hit the snooze button at some point after 9-11... Score one for the good guys on the Al Qaida front. A Pakistani Al Qaida terrorist has been sentenced to 30 years for a plot to blow up gas stations in New York. The scary part about this is the fact that we have to be lucky every time to catch these plots. They only have to get lucky once to carry out an attack...But this particular terrorist won't be taking part. Here's hoping he gets an appropriate cellmate where he is going, preferably a large, beligerent one with some strange fetishes... http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060720/ts_nm/security_paracha_dc;_ylt=Aj9A YoDdIxo5Q1vA_SL5MVCs0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3b2NibDltBHNlYwM3MTYAl Qaida also had designs on Georgia. Two terrorists were evidently planning on carrying out an attack on an airbase outside of Atlanta. Note that both of these guys are US citizens who grew up in the area in which they were planning on committing terrorist attrocities... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060720/ap_on_re_us/terrorism_arrests;_ylt= AokFa3HTmCx0K8TCiP3C3Lis0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3MjBwMWtkBHNlYwM3MTg••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ••••••••••••••••• SOMALIA: NEW FRONT IN THE WAR ON TERROR Al Qaida-affiliated Jihadists are quickly seizing control of the chaotic African nation of Somalia. They seem bent on establishing Taliban-type rule in that beleaguered part of the world. Today, however, troops from neighboring Ethiopia moved in to at least slow down the Jihadists... http://www.ft.com/cms/s/9f5deb00-1854-11db-99a60000779e2340,_i_rssPage=fc3334c0-2f7a-11da-8b51-00000e2511c8.html ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ••••••••••••••••• This newsletter seeks to draw your attention to news articles on the web dealing with important security issues.
