PROGRESS REPORT OF BELGAUM FOUNDRY CLUSTER
Date: 14/11/2005 1) Govt. of Karnataka has given their approval for the Construction, Improvement and Strengthening of Roads in Govt. and Private Industrial Estates, Udyambag, Belgaum in the I Phase of work at the cost of Rs.378.22 lakhs. The implementation of work shall be from December 2005 and completed within Nine months thereon. Necessary concurrence is awaited from DIPP, New Delhi. 2) Govt. of Karnataka has given their approval for Construction of Belgaum Foundry Cluster Building at Angol Industrial Estate (Stockyard) at the cost of Rs.224.15 Lakhs. Tenders Notification has been hosted on the Website of the SPV and published in Leading News papers on 13/11/05 and 14/11/05 for wide publicity. Work will start from January 2005. 3) The Tenders received for Machineries viz: Vertical Machining Centre, 3D Co-Ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Optical Emission Spectrometer for the Common Quality Testing Laboratory and Common Tool Room Facility are being sent to The Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF) – National Centre for Technical Services (NCTS) Pune for Technical Scrutiny, Cost Estimates and Approval thereon. Further these will be sent to Govt. of Karnataka and Govt. of India for their approval and concurrence respectively in the month of December 2005. The above Machineries shall be received before the month of June 2006. 4) Technical Details are being received for Sand Reclamation Plant. The specifications are under finalisation and the same will be sent to IIF (NCTS) Pune for Technical Scrutiny. The necessary Tendering Formalities will be completed by December 2005 and approvals will be availed from Govt. of Karnataka and Govt. of India in January 2006. The setting up the Sand Reclamation Plant will be completed by October 2006 thereon. 5) The Offers received in context with Software for 3 D Modelling and Simulation of Casting along with ERP for Foundries have been studied. Technical approval will be sought from IIF (NCTS), Pune for Tendering purpose in the month of December 2005. All the further activities will be completed by July 2006 including Installation, Training and Trials. Contd……..2

6) The Collections towards the Contribution Share of the User Industry of 15% (Rs.3.71 crores) of the Total Project Cost of Rs.24.78 crores has been intensified. In order to complete the Ist Phase of work of Rs. 825 Lakhs, the User Industry has to bring in Rs. 206 Lakhs. Out of the above the total collection has been Rs. 152 Lakhs and the balance Rs. 54 Lakhs shall be collected before end of December 2005. For this purpose we have approached many Large Industrial Houses, who are also the Customers/Supplier of the Belgaum Industrial Estates, to contribute for the Upcoming Prestigious World Class Infrastructure Project of the Belgaum Foundry Cluster. Govt. of Karnataka has been kind enough to release Rs.92 Lakhs recently, being the 1/3 rd share of the total grant of Rs.249 Lakhs. This shall boost the collection drive from other sources also. 7) Request letter has been sent on 26th July, 2005 to Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Belgaum for their clearance for the purchase of 12.09 acres of land in Desur Gram Panchayat to set up the Sand Reclamation Plant by Belgaum Foundry Cluster. The reply is awaited.
