Report of the Chaplain
Province V Assembly West Lafayette, Indiana March 24, 2007
Brothers and Officers of Province V, It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve the Province as your Chaplain for the past year. Although the rituals have remained the same, the morale and spirit from the Midyear meeting demonstrates our enthusiasm and continued growth in our brotherhood. As Chaplain, my responsibilities included maintaining the ritual and boosting Province morale. My goals for office were to promote more Province wide events, facilitate socializing with brothers from other chapters, and increase the Kappa Psi Brotherhood spirit throughout the Province V. At the Midyear meeting in Buffalo, NY, I enjoyed meeting new brothers and attending workshops to learn how to improve our chapters. At the Midyear Meeting in Anaheim, California, I was ecstatic to see so many KY Brothers with their red flags on their nametags. It was especially fun to socialize with Kappa Psi Brothers from different Provinces at the KY social at the ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney. Brothers at the Midyear meeting were given the opportunity to see how extensive our brotherhood is. I am very excited about the upcoming Province V Assembly! I have planned a few ice- breakers and trivia questions for the down time during the sessions. New Brothers attend Province every year and it is difficult to meet everyone. Also, Brothers who are shy or not as outgoing as others may miss out on opportunities to learn the traditions of other chapters or mingle with other Brothers. The best way to improve your chapter is to compare what you do with other chapters. Every chapter is different and we all have our unique qualities but we are all rooted in the rituals and principles of Kappa Psi. Hopefully these activities will facilitate interactions with other brothers and bridge the gap between chapters. I hope you all take advantage of this meeting to branch out and meet new Brothers. Thank you for a great year and I will leave you with the Kappa Psi Chant: “Who are we? (Kappa Psi) Who are we? (Kappa Psi) Who are we? (Kappa Psi) What’s our motto? (One for All and All for One!) Proud to be a Kappa Psi Brother! Looking forward to seeing you all in Boston!
Fraternally, Kate A Nelson
