Walcott Street – Slippery When Wet!
The Town of Vincent is holding back $110,000 from the City of Stirling until it
receives assurances that the recent road resurfacing works on Walcott Street are
rectified.

Stirling recently carried out this work on behalf of the Town, as Walcott Street
is the current boundary road.

Concerns have been raised about the standard of finish of the new stone mastic
asphalt as there appears to be extensive 'flushing' in several locations along the
length of the road. Cautionary signage has also been erected along the road.

The Town considers these works to be sub-standard and wants assurances that
the works will be fixed before it provides a financial contribution to the project.

"The Town has written to the City of Stirling advising of our concerns and we
are awaiting a response. Of particular concern to the Town is the potential
liability associated with the sub-standard road surface as it exists currently. We
are very keen to receive information from the City as to how and when these
works will be brought up to a standard Vincent expects and demands for our
community and other road users," said CEO John Giorgi.
