Anne Centner founded Concept Interactive in 1990 having gained experience in the production,
typography, design & layout and training within the creative industries since the late 1970s. A two-
year stint in England from 1988-1990 gave her the opportunity to open a Digital Design training
centre in the City of London with clients from advertising and design studios, publishing houses
and commercial companies. Her clients included Britain’s top two publishing houses, Maxwells
and Murdochs - helping them during the transition period between conventional and electronic
      journalism / publishing.

From Concept’s inception in Johannesburg, expert digital design training has been the core
focus with the result that as part of its client portfolio there have been several newspaper
publishers requiring assistance with conversion from the tables to electronic origination.
The first newspapers were those from the Argus Group in Johannesburg and Pretoria
followed swiftly by the Cape Newspapers in Cape Town in 1997.

Concept Interactive initiated and then delivered digital skills training for several
years at the Red & Yellow School and has given courses at other training
institutions, some of which were The AAA School of Advertising, Peninsular
Technicon, Wits Technikons and the Johannesburg Art Foundation.

Over 19 years Concept Interactive has grown to a formidable training centre
offering international and industry standard desktop publishing, Web
and New Media training. In addition to part-time courses, Concept has a
full complement of full time learners attending the 3-Year Interactive
Graphics Diploma (SAQA ID: 66689), and other 5-month courses in
                             Digital Design.

Concept Interactive has always seen the importance of aligning its standards with international
qualifications as this would allow learners completing courses successfully to have recognition
overseas. Therefore, in order to ensure that a qualification from Concept Interactive carries the
highest value, international accreditations have been obtained from Adobe, CorelDraw, and
QuarkXPress; and nationally from the MAPPP-Seta and local industry leaders within the visual
communications arena and creative industries.

The Interactive Graphics Diploma Year is a one year course on offer to anyone who has successfully
completed the Concept Interactive 2-year full-time course. Students will receive a SAQA accredited
3-year Diploma in Interactive Graphics. This is made possible by combining the Diploma year with
the previous two the student has already completed.

On offer are various subjects previously not covered in the 2-year full-time course, thus providing
students with an opportunity to gain skills in new areas, and also to improve in areas in which they
are already competent.

Anyone seeking to improve their skills in both design and web programming – while producing
some outstanding portfolio work and a new portfolio – will find this course invaluable.
