If you have received Jesus Christ as your saviour you are already a success in Gods mind! The famous evangelist T.L.Osborne, wrote these words in his book, 'You are Gods best'. "I am convinced that the greatest discovery you can ever make is your identity with God. Realize that He never planned a failure. He designed you for success and happiness. He is not mad at you but He paid an infinite price to redeem you to the position of His original dream for you. You are Gods best because He is first class all the way. He has created no second class human persons. No one is inferior, insignificant, subordinate or subservient in Gods family". Remember that the Angelic army that appeared to the shepherds in Luke 2 were saying, peace on earth and Gods 'good will' towards people. The book of Romans, Living Bible, says...'And since, when we were His enemies, we were bought back to God by the death of His Son, what blessings He must have for us now that we are His friends, and He is living within us. Now we rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God-all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done in dying for our sins-making us friends of God'. Two subjects are of the utmost importance at the beginning of our Christian life. 1. Relationship with God 2.Knowledge of the Bible Jesus himself is the perfect example of the good Christian life. A lot of what He said revealed the intimate relationship He had with his heavenly Father. From the book of John.............'I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I speak these things.........believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me.......all things that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you..........I am not alone, because the Father is with me'. The Gospels show that Jesus spent a lot time praying (talking to God) so it is important for us also. A story is told in the book of Mathew of people wanting to get into Heaven at the end of time. Some were turned away by Jesus with the words, "depart from me I never knew you".(never had a relationship with you). He also said, 'my sheep hear my voice and they know me and follow me. Remember God is a Spirit, we can't see Him but He is everywhere and always listening. The Bible explains that God and His spiritual world are eternal and will be there long after the things we can see and feel have gone. God has chosen to educate us about Himself and His ways through a book... the Bible. Therefore we should always be reading the Bible to get a good knowledge of it. Jesus often linked relationship with Himself with a Knowledge of the Bible. He called it the word of God, words of life, spiritual words, the truth, light and Gods instruction. He said that it is possible to be led astray in the Christian life because of a lack of knowledge of the Bible. He expected the Jewish people to know Him because they knew the Bible. At another time He said, 'Lo here am I come ,in the volume of the Book it is written of me, to do thy will O God'. The Bible reveals what Christ Has done for us and teaches us how to live the new life He has made available to us. To have a victorious Christian life we all must be convinced of our condition and position in the eyes of God. The theme of many Christians lives is, "I must keep myself clean for Jesus". The theme of the New Testament is, 'Jesus has made me clean'. Titus says that Jesus has purified unto Himself a people zealous of good works. They had been purified and now could turn their attention to goods works. Hebrews 9v26.....He (Jesus) has put away (abolished) sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Hebrews 10v2... those who have received Jesus sacrifice 'would have know more consciousness of sins'. Ephesians 1v4...God has made us,’ holy and without blame before Him in love'. Peter says,’ since you have purified your hearts through obedience to the truth, love one another from a pure heart'. We must be careful to be obedient to the truth as it is revealed to us in the New Testament. Revelation warns us not to add to or take away from the word of God. The suffering, death, burial and resurrection of the divine Son of God was the most miraculous and awesome event the Universe has ever experienced. The entire reason for it was to destroy sin and bring into being a race of newly created people- new creatures in Christ. When Jesus said,’ it is finished’, the results for us were enormous. Salvation and the Christian life are the result of what He has done, not what we can do. Let’s open our minds and hearts to the truth as it is revealed to us in His word. In my opinion, one of the most spectacular statements of the New Testament is the first part of Titus 1v 15. To the pure all things are pure If we remember that Titus also said that Jesus has purified a people unto Himself (us). What do these statements say about our daily life with God? Meditate on the wonder and enormity of these truths-let them get into you-accept them as the truth about you. You are Gods workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, for good works!!!
