Solution
• CEC issued an integrated tender for:
• ATM network of 135 machines
• 1,000 Point Of Sale (POS) machines
• Back office systems
• To support 1 Visa Electron card
• HP chosen prime integrator
• Completed project in 6 months
• All ATM and POS machines in place
• Necessary certifications
• 3 card products under MasterCard and Visa branding
• Solution based on:
• Oracle Database
• Oracle Application Server
• Back office systems from FIBa Software
• Transaction Management from Provus

Results
Simplicity
• The straightforward, integrated solution masterminded by HP as
prime contractor, was up and running in just six months, despite this
being a completely new venture for the bank
Agility
• Powerful and versatile solution enabled CEC to add two new card
products immediately with plans to quickly add more
• Flexible and scalable solution, allowing CEC to extend the system
• Incorporating a credit card management facility
• Adding 200 more POS and 250 more ATMs

• These developments have enabled this new commercial bank to align
itself with the standards of other Romanian banks and compete on a

Improvements 2007 - 2008
• Increased network to 750 ATMs and 2000 POSs
• Retail/Corporate credit cards added (VISA and
Mastercard)
• Acquired transactions using intelligent CHIP
cards, via EMV certifications from VISA and
Mastercard
• On-line disaster recovery site based on Oracle
DataGuard
• On-line system backup to a separate storage
