Volunteer Opportunity Role Charity Shop Volunteer Location / Service Shops Supervised by Service Manager Responsible to Service Manager Hours To be agreed The role, the service and the organisation Volunteers in this role are the face of Guild Care for customers coming into our shops. They can get involved with helping customers who are making purchases as well as helping with the sorting and cleaning of donated goods and arranging shop displays. The aim of out charity shops is to raise funds and volunteers are instrumental in helping us to achieve our targets- either through direct selling or by insuring that our shops are as inviting and customer-friendly as possible. As volunteers within charity shops are in constant contact with people who use the shops, a smart presentable appearance is required at all times. Tasks & duties It is understood that volunteers have strengths and interests in different areas and we have therefore indicated below the range of tasks that volunteers will get involved with as part of this role. 1. Assisting customers with their enquires and if unable to hep ensure that their query is dealt with by the manager. 2. Having an understanding and awareness of customer service and being prepared to consider additional training in that area if required. 3. Making a commitment to the role of charity shop volunteer. 4. Serving customers at the till, operating the till and handling customers. Money- training will be provided on both the till and the credit card machine. 5. Answering the phone in a customer focussed manner, taking messages and recording/ passing them on appropriately. 6. Cleaning bric-a-brac and other items (note we do not launder donated clothing) ensuring that safe working practices are observed and that only COSHH registered produces are used. 7. Assisting with the display of stock and checking that displays are maintained with sold items replaced. 8. Making a commitment to attend team meeting and 1-1 supervision as required. 9. Considering requests for other tasks.
