Then select “Web Advisor” at the top of the page. 1) If you are currently a student with CTC and have used Web Advisor before proceed with “Log In” in the upper right hand corner in the “Main Menu” and proceed with your log in information. 2) If you are a new student with CTC proceed with the steps below: STEP 1: ENTER USER NAME Enter the initials (lowercase) of your first and last names followed by the last six digits of your SSN (no spaces). Example: ab123456 STEP 2: ENTER PASSWORD Your password is your date of birth (mmddyy). The first time you log in, you will be prompted to change your password. Once you change your password, you are already logged in and may proceed. Note this password for future use. If you need to reset your password, use the “What’s My Password” link on the Main Menu page and follow the instructions. STEP 3: LOG OUT To protect your security, always click “Log Out” when finished. NOTE: THERE IS NO LATE REGISTRATION FOR ONLINE CLASSES Registration Instructions Once you have successfully logged in or you are a returning Distance Learning student you may follow the steps below to register for your class. ** If you are a new student to Distance Learning, you must complete the Registration Form available online at http://www.ctcd.edu/forms/dtel_ci_reg.pdf. The form is also available to you at the CTC Camp Pendleton office. ** Step 1: Once you have clicked on “Students” you will see a menu of all the options you have with Web Advisor. Under the Registration section click on “Register for Sections” Step 2: Select “Search and Register for Sections. Step 3: On the next screen only fill in: Term, Subject, and Location and then click submit. Example: Term: SPR07; Subject: GOVT; Location: TDLRN Distance Learning (4th from top) Step 4: Next, scroll through the class listings to view which classes are open. Once you have found the class you would like to take select the box to the left of the course and click “Submit” at the bottom of the page. **If you are having problems with signing up for classes, please contact the Online Mentors for assistance at email@example.com or 1-800-792-3348 ext. 1298 Payment and Registration Info *Payment in full is due the same day that you register* Tuition Assistance: You must turn in the TA form to CTC Office BEFORE the term start date. If no TA is received, you could be dropped for non-payment. Withdrawal Process *It is the students’ responsibility to officially withdraw from a course. Students who do not officially withdraw and cease to participate in the class may be administratively withdrawn from the course by the instructor. In such cases, the instructor may assign the student a grade of “IP” incomplete or “FI” for non-attendance. Students can withdraw online up to day before class starts if system will allow it by following instructions listed below. Otherwise you will need to come in to the CTC office and fill out the proper paperwork. Step 1) Select “Register and Drop Sections” under “Registration” in the student menu. Step 2) In the next screen under “Current Registrations” select the box under “Drop” of the course you are dropping and click submit. Step 3) You are now dropped from the course. **If student(s) CAN NOT drop class online, contact the CTC Office by email: registrar@ctc- pendleton.com. Be sure to include the class you are dropping, start/end date, and valid contact number you can be reached at. Once your email has been received you will be requested to come in and proceed with a withdrawal. **If course online has already begun, you will need to come in to the CTC Office and fill out a withdrawal form and make the proper payments. If withdrawal is due to work relations, student can get a CO Letter and turn it in to the CTC office to receive 100% Duty Waiver. (Example of letter can be found at the CTC office) NOTES: **Students can view a brief description of the course as well as their instructors’ information by clicking on the course under “Section Name and Title”. **Under “Meeting Information” be sure to check the beginning and end dates of the class as well as the type of class you will be takings. Descriptions are given below. Step 5: On the next screen under “Preferred Sections” Click on the scroll down bar and select “Register”. Then click submit and the next screen will show all actions done by you. Now you are registered in the class(s). Online Lecture- Students will submit their work on a weekly basis as instructed by their instructor. (Make sure you submit assignments according to Texas (Central Time), not California (Pacific Time). For example if your assignment is due at 7pm, submit homework by 5pm) Self-Paced Lecture-Students can access the course, complete and submit assignments, and take tests at their own rate rather than according to a fixed schedule (online lecture). To succeed in a self-paced class, you must be more self-disciplined about studying and taking your tests because there is no course schedule to guide you through the class. You may not complete the course in less than 4 weeks. You must take all exams in order (test 1 before test 2, ect..) and take the final exam during the last week of class. ***You CANNOT take Offline, CD ROM, or Personal Pocket Computer courses unless instructed to do so by a CTC representative**** What else can I use Web Advisor for??? SECTION 4: PROCTOR EXAMS Almost all online courses require students to take proctored exams. Students will need to call and schedule a time to take the exam in our computer lab. Proctored exams can be scheduled between the following office hours ONLY: Monday-Thursday: 8:15am-2pm and Friday: 8:15am-11:00am. NOTE: When on-site classes are taking place, the computer lab will be closed to proctor exams 1130-1300 during the week.
